I don't think you can find anything anywhere from me on the subject of GWB and Bush.

But I will say, now, that sending people to verify that Mo the Daffy carried through on the dismantling of the Libyan nuclear weapons program seems a capital idea.

The killings were probably carried out by illiterate peasants living in 13th century conditions... Had Jones and the mullahs swapped places, the events would probably have been identical to those that actually transpired.

Would it be too much to ask for you to base your comments on reality intead of biassed fantasies about what (in your uninformed opinion) is "probably" the case? The demonstrations by "illiterate peasants" were without violence.

K.

Afghani Literacy:

definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 28.1%
male: 43.1%
female: 12.6% (2000 est.)
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/af.html

The literacy rate is Afghanistan is low ....28% and likely to be much lower in regional areas. Carrying weapons is normal in many parts of Afghanistan, especially rural and regional areas.

So it's likely that most of the people storming the UN centre were illiterate and peasants. Nor should anything be read into the fact that some were armed, as anyone with a basic familiarity with Afghani customs would be aware.

The demos started on Friday - the day of prayers at the mosque. The custom in the Muslim world is these things start after prayers finish. I'm far from an expert on Afghanistan but I do know some basics. There are people exhibiting gross ignorance of Afghani affairs on this thread, just as you have. My observation is they tend NOT to be the ones defending the looney Jones.

I note that my question to you hasn't been answered so I'll repeat it:

What sane person would choose to burn a book knowing that their actions jeopardised the lives of an unknown number of innocent people?

WTF, LL?

I think Jones put himself squarely in the crosshairs; I further think he had to know he was putting his life in danger.

He needs WP asap.

Hardly.
I have often, and for a decade, expressed my dislike of violent, intolerant, sexist hate groups like the KKK, Aryan Nations, and Islam.

If you profess your dislike of the KKK, you too are making value judgments; which according to so may people who like throw the word around, makes you a bigot too.

Selah.

And,in your mind, should we the taxpayer pay for that protection?
If so why...he clearly ,as far as you are concerned,"put himself squarely in the crosshairs"
Should he not now be responsible for his own protection?Aren't you a proponent of personal responsibility?
Why should others now be responsible for his poor decisions?
If he has decided to make poor choises ,in regards to his own health and safety...why should the rest of us now carry that burden?
Just sayin [:)]

Should we pay for the drug regimen of people who got AIDS from unprotected anal sex?
Should we pay for the health care of the 333 pound obese woman?
Should we pay for the health care of smokers with emphysema? Lung cancer?

Should we leave Jones to be beheaded?
Or should it remain an American principle to protect people from mob violence?

Just sayin

Ahh,now you seem upset.I am sorry, but there is some good news.We are going to grade this on a curve,so to speak, and given your subset you have actually scored pretty high.
Still a fail, but hey,you are doing a lot better than most of your fellow tea baggers[:D]

Is Dubai the best example you have?

quote:

It may have a thriving, mainstream tourist industry, but Britons are more likely to be arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) than in any other country in the world.

quote:

The strict Muslim emirate, which grew up from a fishing port into one of the world's financial capitals, sees around a million British visitors every year and is home to more than 100,000 including cricketer Andrew Flintoff.

Most will live life much as they do in the UK and experience no problems but for the few unlucky enough to be reported to police for what appear in the West to be minor transgressions, the response can be harsh...

As Truckin wrote, what we consider a moderate Muslim is an apostate in Islam, just as an extremist is 'observant'.

Has anyone asked how respectful these people who committed the murders are of the Bible, American flags, or non-Muslims?

How tolerant are they in most Muslim controlled areas of Bibles, etc. What does Shariah law say about the subject, for example?

So it's OK to choose to "burn a bit of paper" even if you're fully aware that a probable direct consequence of burning that paper is an unknown number of deaths to innocent people?

Why would any sane person make that choice?

Yes it is okay. Jones is an American. In America we get to burn shit. Bras, flags, Bibles, Korans, fields, trash, campfires, marshmallows, Pikachu, all sorts of stuff. You apply for and pay for your burn permit and you are golden. Hell, we even have a special holiday for burning shit up. July 4th. Independence Day. American's LIKE fires.

You seem to fail to understand that not liking someone's actions does NOT give you the right to go murder a third party.

Why would any sane person think that being a murdering bastard was okay.

Seriously, how can you side with the terrorists? Would you be okay with the Roman Catholic Church re-instituting the auto-de-fa? Because you certainly seem to be okay with and supportive of Muslim assholes killing those they deem as heretics.

They should be respectful of the Bible given it shares much of the fiction depicted in the Koran. Same events, different witness. I don't think these people are respectful of the things they consider to be their own religion so it's a bit of a nonstarter question.

I was mulling over a reply while reading the rest of the thread, but you seem to have covered it very well.

Sanity -> RE: I hope that dumbass preacher in fl is proud of himself (4/3/2011 12:26:48 PM)

Sorry but no, the punishment for being caught with a bible is very severe in many Islamic countries, and any bibles found are burned wholesale as a matter of law.

True in some places but you should really give actual examples not make blanket statements to give the impression that the exception is actually the rule. You and I know these places you talk of use the religion as convenient form of control so you can't condemn the religion for how a state misuses it. I'm not of the view that if the bible was the book of choice there that these places (where they don't have separation of church and state) would be any better.

Which, by extension, means we are allowing the crazy people to control us.

That is exactly what it means, and not just as far as burning Korans.

The further point is that any form of appeasement leads to escalating demands (which is why negotiating with terrorists is such a bad idea). Rewarding bad behavior begets bad bad bad behavior.

I have suggested on talk radio a somewhat different approach: hold nationwide Koran burnings every time there is an honor killing in this country, a beheading of an American anywhere, etc.

Of course, I think Americans should wear t-shirts that say: "Mohammed was a Pedophile", and "Islam: Hate Group" and "Jihad: towelhead for "Shoot me quick. And often". Then again, I don't like these people and would not mind seeing the US as an Islam-free zone.

Do not be surprised if this causes barely a ripple on these pages.....most intelligent posters had you pegged a long, long time ago.

Three....four,does it really matter. They are ,as a group, bereft of a anything resembling an idea .Nor do they have any skill in presenting their lame positions in an intelligent manner.Hell one of them has been reduced to singing Barbera Streisand tunes....forever mumbling something or other about ...feelings.
And this,in his eyes,is what passes as scoring a point.....accusing another poster of having *gasp* "feelings".
