Ron Paul could beat Obama in the general election, but he won't get through the primaries. No other candidate can beat Obama; though I would much rather have Obama be re-elected than to have any Republican (other than Ron Paul) get in. Who ever wins the 2012 election, Democrat or Republican, will have to deal with a pending currency crisis. In fact, there could be a serious situation before 2012 even comes. The US dollar index is nearing all-time lows, and I don't see any indications of a dollar rally.

The person most likely to beat candidate Obama is President Obama. Hence the need for the politics of personal destruction to be leveled at any and all who might oppose him. I'll agree with Heretic to a point. The next election is Obama's to lose, unfortunately. I don't think he's done that good a job but I REALLY don't see any of the present R people that are worth a vote. If Obama can keep things from going totally south, he will win with no trouble.
