tazzygirl -> RE: Long form birth certificate released. (4/27/2011 10:18:41 PM)

Prior to 14 November 1986, the physical presence requirement in this case was ten years (instead of five) -- including five years (instead of two) spent after the parent's 14th birthday. The requirement was reduced in 1986, but the change did not retroactively make US citizenship available to people born previously who did not meet the old requirement. (Congress's intent not to make this change retroactive was affirmed in 1988 with the passage of Public Law 100-525, § 8(d), 102 Stat. 2619).

For citizens born outside the US.

It's been the singular, biggest way to bring the idiots, and psycopaths out in the open, than just about anything else, since the 60s.

Hey! The sixties were great!! ...even though I don't remember much. [:D]

For me too... I was born in the 60s, after all.

You'll need to be a lot more gifted to get me hot and bothered.[sm=hearts.gif] M

If my mom had me by C-section does that mean I'm not a *natural born* citizen and can't be POTUS? Or, damn, I'm pretty sure she had an epideral ... crap, crap ... there goes the natural part.

I'm screwed, ain't I? Will I have to hand in my passport and float the 7 seas as mere flotsam (or is it jetsam.. I always get those two confused.)

natural born just means native born, native to a region or group etc.

I sort of have to laugh at the leftees and rightees when it does not matter what the law is, if its their "team" committing fraud its all forgiven and a-ok!

what a fucked up society

mob democracy at its finest hour

if its a choice between the elites and people I think I may have to go with the elites.   it sure cant get a hell of a lot worxe than the people!

Ok. Whew.. just checking. For a minute there I thought I was a woman without a country!

So, what you are saying is that since I was born on US soil (in Texas) that I am an automatic citizen via the 14th ammendment ratified July 9, 1868 (and I am getting on in years but I was born just a wee bit after 1868) and am eligible to run for POTUS? I assume that's the law of which you are speaking? The one that pertains to those of us born here and not some other law that would pertain to those who were not born here?

ETA: Now that I think about it, are folks who were conceived by IVF going to be eligible for POTUS? That can't possibily be natural. Or, my god... what if, what if those eeeeeeeeeevil politicians see the potential profit in harvesting and then, bam.. before you know it, CLONES! Will clones be eligible? Granted, this stuff isn't legal.. yet, but the more I think about it, the more it makes me wonder. Where is this going to end? I say we get this shit straightened out right now BEFORE we need it.

All in favor of clones being eligible for POTUS signfy by saying Aye!

Opposed nay!

Okay, now all we have to do is count the votes and we're set for the future.

I feel better. Don't you?

joether -> RE: Long form birth certificate released. (4/28/2011 2:45:24 AM)

An as we have been talking of this nonsense (a full eight pages now), what are Republicans doing about the Job Issue? You know, the REASON they got elected? Here we are at the five month journey and STILL, not a jobs bill that helps put Americans back to work. The reason I bring this up is related to recent US History. Rewind back to the George W. Bush Administration. During that time, the GOP tried to keep America's attention on Iraq and Afghanistan as much and often as possible. They didn't want anyone looking at the accountant who is fuming at the rate money is being spent to fund those wars (all purchased on credit too). Nor at the pathetic domestic policy the administration was using. They want America's attention anywhere BUT, where it should be: Keeping Them Accountable! And this nation paid a very heavy price for that mistake.

How long has this birther issue being going on for? And WHAT have the Republican Party given our nation in the last three years thats been constructive, useful and making progress on the problems (i.e. repair their blunders and screw ups)? Absolutely nothing. Its been this birther crap. Folks, we have A LOT of problems; whether the President got a C in college, is NOT one of them. Neither is determining whether his pet dinosaur existed before or after there were dinosaurs on the planet (or when they went extinct). But the GOP/TP idiots want to keep our focus on that. Why?

CUS THEY HAVE FAILED TO DELIVER A JOBS BILL. Just like they said they would on the run up to the 2010 election. What HAVE they been doing? Certainly not dealing with the budget like level headed adults. Nor on the energy problems that require some good thinkers and tinkers. Not even health care; which should be left up to the doctors....NOT....the GOP. Maybe we should ask them, when they are going to get around to...DOING THEIR F-ING JOBS. Maybe they don't need the jobs? I know many Americans who could EASILY handle a $178K/year job and do a better work ethic then all the Republicans combined.

DarkSteven -> RE: Long form birth certificate released. (4/28/2011 2:54:17 AM)

The whole thing is wacky.

At this point, it's moot.  You just have to assume proper vetting.  FFS, I could probably fake a birth certificate using Photoshop and post it.  Could you imagine the resources of POTUS?

I will also add, that the left using the term "teabagger" as an epithet is rich in irony:  the left believes in sexual deviancy (as so many here do) and in respect for the LBGQT whatever alphabet soup group that is....

They really are a hyper-hypocritical group.

If you don't like sexual deviancy then what the fuck are you doing posting on a BDSM website Mary Poppins?

Well see this would be where we diverge....for I was so convinced of both his eligibility and his suitability for the Job he currently holds....that I cast my vote for him.
See I've been satisfied all along that the selection/election process worked just fine [:D]Seems a majority of my fellow citizens felt the same [:D].

I too was satisfied that he was born on US soil simply because it would have been too much of a political liability for the democrats if he were not but it wouldn't have hurt for him to supply the long form - yes some of the conspiracy was in all probability racially motivated but on the other side of the coin it is pretty apparent a lot wasn't. There was a very sizable concern amongst the people he represents so I see it as a sort of obligation to address that issue fully and not let it fester.

Not let it fester?

What a  complete joke.

He releases the long form all the idiots have been whining about...............and what happens?

We have the idiots questioning its authenticity.

Oh this is hysterical, there could be video of the birth with a window view of mt kilauea erupting in the background with hula girls giving a birthing dance  in the corner of the room and they would still call it a hoax. (Sorry for the stereotypes)
Its nice to see the usual denial from the terminally wrong.
Bita had it down very  and I agree with her.
As for the dumbass photoshop comments, anyone can make up a paper on adobe, whoop big deal, and get away with a few things, but the age of the paper, the age of the ink, the consistency, is all to easily verifiable these days so cobblers to it being a hoax on photoshop.
Trump comes out of this looking like a dickhead again, please run him as pres.
Where is all his  OMG my investigators, "you wont believe what they have found!!!
spin spin spin.
I had such fun reading this  thread(sue me) and I look foreward to the non sexual deviant baggers sucking nuts of the "After Birthers"
What a group!

LaTigresse -> RE: Long form birth certificate released. (4/28/2011 4:15:20 AM)

I wouldn't have expected anything else of our version of a P.T. Barnum side show.

It really is quite tragic, what the lunatics have done to turn the repubs, and all of politics really. I mean, Donald Trump? Really???? When that clown becomes your loudest voice.......you know you've got some major issues.

Kudos to NBC for kicking his ass to the curb.

Lucylastic -> RE: Long form birth certificate released. (4/28/2011 4:22:24 AM)

They did kick him to the curb??
oh wow  I wasnt expecting that, I knew there was a call for boycott,
wonder how long it willl take him to sue them.
La T,  I have to agree with you regarding the side show, but..on the other hand, its gonna be interesting, especially with all the morons doin their thang,It is a damn shame they cant focus on saving and producing jobs and get the country back on its feet.
Its been a nasty diversion that just wont die:(

edited to add  ONE explanation of the photoshop dreck
"The file the White House gave out has digital layers. Photoshop documents have digital layers – ergo, it must be a photoshop fake!
(The hive mind doesn't seem to think it strange that the White House would forget to flatten the layers in the document before issuing it.) Well, no. The layers exist because the printed document was scanned by software that recognises text and lifts it from its background. A cursory examination of the file shows that that's what happened here."
Also how it works

True there will always be people who don't want to know or believe, I sort of expected some the keep questioning it even with the release of the long form but I think you generalise too much as I reckon many of the sceptics will be satisfied by that action at this stage. It will be interesting to see if it makes a big impact on the opinion polls.
