I have never run into this problem but I now will reconsider talking a big oral sex game just in case their body does give off more unholy scents.

Masturbation is another important means of getting things clean down there.  Women produce some vaginal fluid all the time, it dries up and gets nasty.

I have to say, this is the first time I've ever heard of anyone's vagina or vaginal secretions "drying up" (one would assume drying up inside, since washing outside would remove any residue).  Whaddya know.

Your vagina is like any other orifice that produces any sort of secretions. New stuff is fresher and smells better.

A good self induced orgasm flushes out the system and gets out any nasty.

Well, I don't know about YOUR vagina, but mine doesn't turn off.  If we weren't a little wet all the time, we would squeak when we walk.  YMMV.

There is stank, and then there is STANK.

STANK is a medical problem, and as has been mentioned, it tends to be an overgrowth of (normally healthy) bacteria. Something as basic as sitting at a desk with your legs crossed wearing tight pantyhose can cause an overgrowth of bacteria, especially if done on a regular basis.

A slight change in diet, such as eating yogurt (live culture pls) will help to balance the bacteria in the gut and throughout the rest of the body. Since bacteria of all kinds flourish in moisture rich areas, simple things like wearing cotton panties (if/when you have to wear panties) and using a light cornstarch powder in your pubic area are good preventative measures.

If you've already got the STANK, visit your doctor or wholistic medicine practitioner.

A more mild stank could be as straightforward as a body chemistry your nose does not like. Always trust your nose, it *nose* best.

I remember a Dom telling me he was so sure that his sub was not staying clean enough because her pussy stank. She washed and washed, several times a day, and even went to the doctor and got a clean slate....the doc said she had NO infections of any kind. It was just her personal odor. I really felt bad for her, because there was nothing she could do about it.

That being said, for most women it's just a matter of staying clean and healthy, including not having vag infections. But then you might not like her particular odor anyway. I can understand being super-aware of smells. I have a very acute sense of smell and not much gets past me.

May I add that some men have really smelly genital odor also?

I'm glad someone said something about this.^^^^ I remember being with a Dom who, every time I went down there, I would literally gag. I actuallly threw up in my mouth one time. Then I got an idea. I was writing a journal for him every day and I decided to put a little paragraph in there on hygiene and what I do and how it makes things smell so much cleaner and fresher in that general area. After he read my journal, I never had to gag down there again. He just needed some hygiene lessons. Whew!!

I had no idea that could dry up, I mean on/in the person. I'm wetter than wet.

Bottom line....if I ever had a "feminine odor" problem, I would like it to be brought to my attention so I could do whatever I needed to to correct it. It may be embarrassing at the time, but it's better than going about smelling awful and finding out later it's been that way for some time. But then, I'm a matter-of-fact person that likes up-front honesty.

On masturbation and feminine hygiene:

"The process of tenting stretches and pulls the mucous within the cervix, allowing for a rise in acidity in the cervical fluid. This increases “friendly” bacteria and allows more fluid to move from the cervix into the vagina. When“old” fluid moves from the tented cervix, it not only lubricates the vagina, but also flushes out unfriendly organisms that can cause infections.

Many women with urinary tract infections report the desire to masturbate when they feel a UTI coming on, and for a good reason: masturbating helps relieve pain and it flushes the old bacteria from the cervix. It’s the body’s way of getting the bacteria out."

dunno but anytime I"ve had a uti which thankfully are rare, the last thing I wanna do is masturbate. The only thing i wanna do is usually sit in a warm bath and get to a dr for meds and try my best not to tear anyone's head off from the pain in the meantime.

As for skank, I was with a man who sweated like a pig and smelled to the point I just couldn't bear to be with him. It was just too much for me to handle and the ex Dom worked at a job that leached chemicals into his skin and being that my skin is extremely sensitive, when we would go to sleep or cuddle up I'd end up with terrible rashes from corrosiveness. It came to a point where I would scoot away from him when we slept.

There are several things that could be going on here:

It could be that she is unclean. But it is usually possible to tell the difference between someone smelling a bit 'fruity' and genuine BO. I personally love the taste of my boyfriend when he hasn't showered, that's the real taste and smell of his skin.

But smelling bad is quite another thing. This could be solved by - bathing more often (baths can sometimes be better for a woman than showers, because the whole of her genitals is immersed in the water) by keeping her 'lady garden' more trimmed (I hate the way I smell when I have pubes - the hairs are meant to trap your feminine smell and broadcast it to the surrounding population - I guess nature never thought you'd be sticking your face in there :-P) or by using wet wipes or baby wipes (dry tissue and damp skin sometimes do not go hand in hand).

Alternatively, she could have thrush, which is easily solved by a dose of cannisten cream. Get some, tell her it's for your athlete's foot and then, later (when you have used half of the tube) pretend to have spotted she has thrush (tell her it looks red and rashy down there) and tell her cannisten works on that too. Icky conversation avoided.

Finally, just stop going down on her, lol. I wouldn't go down on a guy who wasn't keeping himself clean. Perhaps if you go on strike, she would start to get the message? (This is theoretically, I know you don't have someone at the moment.)

That sounds awful (the corrosives) but I can relate, as I have very sensitive skin.

Who said, cleanliness is next to Godliness?

I like clean.

"Come here baby, you stink.  Lets go wash that thing off."  <then lead them to the shower and where they can wash>

If they are immobilized, I don't say anything.  I just get a soapy rag, a douche bag, garden hose, plunger or what ever is necessary to wash them.

The irony is that overcleaning can create an environment where "bad" bacteria can take hold and result in a bad odour. The "good" bacteria (part of the "normal flora") that resides in the vagina provides a competitive environment for other types of bacteria so they don't dominate (ha! no pun intended!) the area. If the "good" stuff is killed off/removed due to overcleaning, an imbalance is created and the "bad" bacteria can gain dominance.

To Aynne, darling...
Girl, if it works for you, that's fabulous! (And yes, I get the whole color of my urine thing, too.... heck if your urine is any color beyond a couple hues past clear, you aren't drinking enough water!)

I don't think anybody thinks it's wrong for you to do what works for you down in your bidness. That's fabulous. However, I wouldn't want some man to think a lot of baths, soap, etc. is a good idea for other women. If I did all that stuff, I wouldn't be able to walk because the yeast infection would be so rampant. You'd have to tie my hands behind my back, and I'd be begging someone to kill me. I can't stand to itch in any case, and a yeast infection ... *shivers*

There is a reason women eat a lot of yogurt - and it's not because we love it. We LEARN to love it if we don't like it right away. That stuff keeps the itchies away. (Forget the apple, get out your crock pot and make some yogurt). The yogurt in the hoo hoo? I found many years ago it only worked if it was at the verrrrrrrrrrry beginning of a yeast infection. (I used to get them all the time. Now? Hmmm. I got one in ... 2006 I think? Amazing what a change in diet can do for you.)

I find that if I keep the following things to a minimum, I have no issue: beer (it has yeast), bread (it has yeast), sugar (it feeds yeast). Back when I was getting them a long time ago, I gave up those three things, and within 3 days they were cleared of my system, and voila! All better!

In the interests of helping others, I'm attaching a recipe for home made yogurt. It's cheap, wicked easy, and yummy (rather like you, Aynne darling ok, and If you are cheap, wicked easy, and yummy, then ME TOO! )

Best,
sunshine

From this website:
http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/10/you-can-make-yogurt-in-your-crockpot.html

The recipe says let it sit for 8 hours, but I let mine sit for 12. It's thicker and creamier and not so sour.

8 cups (half-gallon) of whole milk--pasteurized and homogenized is fine, but do NOT use ultra-pasteurized. (Debbie recommends starting with whole milk until you get the hang of yogurt-making)

--1/2 cup store-bought natural, live/active culture plain yogurt (you need to have a starter. Once you have made your own, you can use that as a starter)

--frozen/fresh fruit for flavoring

--thick bath towel

The Directions.

This takes a while. Make your yogurt on a weekend day when you are home to monitor.

I used a 4 quart crockpot. This is so exciting. My fingers are shaking!

Plug in your crockpot and turn to low. Add an entire half gallon of milk. Cover and cook on low for 2 1/2 hours.

Unplug your crockpot. Leave the cover on, and let it sit for 3 hours.

When 3 hours have passed, scoop out 2 cups of the warmish milk and put it in a bowl. Whisk in 1/2 cup of store-bought live/active culture yogurt. Then dump the bowl contents back into the crockpot. Stir to combine.

Put the lid back on your crockpot. Keep it unplugged, and wrap a heavy bath towel all the way around the crock for insulation.

Go to bed, or let it sit for 8 hours.

In the morning, the yogurt will have thickened---it's not as thick as store-bought yogurt, but has the consistency of low-fat plain yogurt.

Blend in batches with your favorite fruit. I did mango, strawberry, and blueberry. When you blend in the fruit, bubbles will form and might bother you. They aren't a big deal, and will settle eventually.

Chill in a plastic container(s) in the refrigerator. Your fresh yogurt will last 7-10 days. Save 1/2 cup as a starter to make a new batch.

*blinks* Make my own yogurt? That ain't happening anytime soon! Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone who makes or is willing to make their own. I applaud your abilities and efforts. Me? If I want it, I'd rather just buy the stuff already made. For the taste factor alone, my pick is The Greek Gods Honey yogurt. Yummmmm!!!

Hmmm, a tricky issue.  For me, perimenopause made for a bipolar coochiesnorter, I swear.  One bare rumor of a flight from ORD to LAX, and it was BV or yeast time, take your pick.  It got so that I'd take diflucan and flagyl with me just in case.  If there's a lot of turbulence, you're gonna sit for a looooong time with no chance to air out the ladygarden.

Now, I find that a nice trim and shower make the ladygarden fresh.  But!  When the coochiesnorter's hot and rarin' to party, it perspires a wee bit.  So you get the fresh persperation odor along with clean coochie.

I don't object to a fresh persperation smell on a man, but can understand why some wouldn't.  I can't abide a rank smell, or even worse, the smell of shit on a guy.  That be a hard limit.

If I could buy yogurt that wasn't chock full of sugar, I would. Sadly, I have no option here. And frankly, it's so fricking easy that it's embarassing. Pour milk in. Turn on the crock pot. Wait 2 1/2 hours. Turn off the crock pot. Wait 3 hours. Stir in yogurt. Cover with a towel. Go to sleep. Enjoy.

You gotta love a recipe that tells you to go to sleep.

The biggest mistake? Not setting the alarm. During the "waiting" period, I get chores done, go to the store, go for a bike ride, etc. I love my home made yogurt. And frankly, I'm not a great cook. (I bake well, but have no oven). Making my own yogurt makes me feel really good. And my hoo hoo is happy!

Seriously, I wish everything was this easy to make.... and I wish everything made my hoo hoo this happy!

FYI: If it's a known yeast infection, a quick, cheap, minimally messy and easy-to-use cure is a 00 gelatin capsule packed with boric acid powder. Wet the capsule with water, and up it goes with a clean finger. Use nightly until symptoms abate...usually just takes a few. Boric acid is mild enough to use in eyes and harmlessly changes the tissue pH to its normal acid component. Problem solved. This effective, safe home remedy brought to you by my very competent GYN. Also, women are wet. A little puss-wad of a few squares of clean toilet paper folded between your thighs (not inside your vagina!) changed out at every bathroom stop keeps everything fresh instead of putting your flesh back up against old secretions all day. They sell pantiliners for this, but they're usually overkill, expensive and you can't flush them.

Everybody has their favorite way to wash. Whatever works, as long as both washing and rinsing is from top to bottom, same with wiping.

As a submissive, if my dom thinks my hoo-hoo smells, i would trust that he would tell me. After all, he is my dominant - surely our relationship could survive being told that my stuff smells a bit.

Not to get completely off topic here.... But this "theory" of yours assumes all women are capable of having an orgasm. So, are you trying to tell me I stink because I've never had an orgasm?

Regarding the primary topic at hand.... I'm just a little confused. You trust your partner to allow you to do kinky stuff to her right? Then why do you not trust her to allow you to say, "um, no offense but you are kind of putting off a smell tonight. Is everything okay?"

Kali

All women are capable of having an orgasm. If you haven't experienced one, you have not had an educated partner. Female orgasm can be tricky; but it's not brain surgery.

You need an educated partner who is extremely patient and is good at timing. The rest is really just foreplay.
