WASHINGTON – The government's hunt for Osama bin Laden has left the country questioning whether the tactics used to interrogate suspected terrorists were successful and lawful. With his death, both sides of the debate have regrouped along familiar lines, claiming they were right all along.

But America's greatest counterterrorism success does not represent a victory for either camp. Rather, it paints a clearer picture of the CIA's interrogation and detention program, revealing where it was successful and where its successes have been overstated.

This brings up an interesting point. The US will scream bloody murder if there is even a suspicion of American prisoners being tortured, but it is perfectly okay for America to torture prisoners.

Of course the CIA tactics were successful - for them. How else to satisfy their need to torture people?

Personally it is my opinion that no suspect ought ever to be questioned. Any confession by a suspect ought to be in-admissable: it will at least reduce somewhat the motivation to torture suspects.

I wonder why the whole Waco group had to be exterminated. Are all that got out alive accounted for, or were some after interrogation and / or torture offed in some basement? What did one or more of them know that most of them had to be killed? Even 'licensed to kill' 009 Timmy was involved.

It is not perfectly ok for anyone to nonconsensually torture anyone.

The ones that got out confirmed that Koresh ordered the fires.

But don't let me interrupt the "government is evil" circle jerk.

Let me see if I got it the right way:
its ok but not perfectly ok for anyone to nonconsensually torture anyone?

Is it ok to let some Egyptian asylem seeker in Italy Back to Eygpt just to give US information about Osama?

one of my frinds he was arrested, he toke only 2 whips, before they know that he was someone else,
he told me if the got the third one he would confess about whatever they want.
is that ok?

That's because it's far too mysterious.

It really had nothing at all to do with a crazy cult leader and his equally insane followers.

Why would I comment on something I had not listened to?

I don't take calling anyone bat shit crazy lightly.

It's reserved for those who are bat shit crazy, like Koresh.

And I don't think I am going to say anything more about being bat shit crazy.  [sm=modxiiswatching.gif]

it is perfectly okay for America to torture prisoners.

Dr. Phil used to say that the best predictor for future behavior is past behavior. In that light, considering that the USA has always tortured and even sent torture specialists abroad to teach dictatorial regimes to do the same, if I recall correctly, it is to be expected that the USA will continue to torture.

Thank God for serious intellectuals like Dr. Phil.

because it is impossible to come to that conclusion based on what was said without a gargantuous leap of imagination.  (YOURS)

If you want to quote how you came to that conclusion I am all ears.  If you do not I accept your concession and conclude you are the one who is bat shit crazy..
