The real danger, as I've long maintained, is that those who take millenial prophecies to heart will consciously or unconsciously direct their actions to bring it about - just so they can say "I told you so".

Hence the hand puppet going out of his way to piss everybody in the ME off, mishandling things so badly that an eventual war - a real war - is practically inevitable.

And while it might not result in "TEOTW", it could get pretty ugly.

There is also a fixation with 2000 years which never changes. One of my great grandfathers, born in 1846 recalled being told Christ died 2000 years ago. A century later I was told the same bullshit. My nephews and neices are being told the self same bullshit today. My greatgrandfathers own grandfather, was told the same bullshit about 2000 years and he was born in 1798. Doubtless his grandfather before him heard the same nonesense. Clearly the established churches that make a good living out of preaching mythalogical nonesense, are incapable of realising that time marches on and that has each century,or for that matter each year passes, that it is no longer 2000 years.    Ykdnme

I could see if they where told different dates and such. But You keep saying 2,000 years.

You know, it is grotesque biblical misinterpretations like this and zealotry that play a big part in giving Christianity a bad name, making a laughing stock out of them.

actually the END OF THINGS are not a myth.  It's just that things haven't gotten bad yet.  For the END OF THINGS to actually happen....  From what was given to me to see back in 1986 all the USA would have to look for the most part like the several days when we Americans were marching into Iraq ALONG with all the natural disasters [fire, wind, rain, tornados, hurricanes, famine, etc] happening to all parts of the USA almost at the same time and the wars so great that it become total impossible to dispose of the bodies properly [so they are just left to rot on the streets].... THEN the end will occur.
The western parts of the USA will go first followed by the eastern parts of the USA and when they almost match each other [in severity] THEN the end will happen and happen very shortly.
GIFT given to me to see in Dec 1986 and the 2 guides were one that was so bright that nothing in the heavens could match it's brightness YET be pleasing soft to look at [GOD] and the other was a few hundred thousands watts bright [angel]

Actually I do not believe you at all.  We were told specifically in the Bible that noone would be getting gifts, including the gift of tongues for example, until the end times.  So I do honestly believe this to be a wild imagination with no basis in reality whatsoever.  The only "gifts" were going to come from evil spirits.... Christians are in fact challenged to question them and ask them to identify themselves.

Pray refresh my memory as to where the rising price of gasoline is mentioned in Revelations. I seem to have missed that part.

Hehehehe.  That was exactly what I was going to write.  I'm glad I read threads before I post to them, or this would get redundant.

Fluff and nonsense.  If someone has a vision, it comes from an evil spirit?  Well both of the cultures I descend from and their vision quests are out, then. What a load of phooey.

People have been saying and or prophesizing since the beginning of time that there is an end to time.  There is, it happens when they flush you in the boneyard.  But if there is gonna be all this pestilence and famine beforehand; I must be excused to go build a bigger and better liquor cabinet.

A sadist, a masochist, a murderer, a necrophile, a zoophile and a
pyromaniac are all sitting on a bench in a mental institution, bored
out  of their minds.

"How about having sex with a cat?" asked the  zoophile.

"Let's have sex with the cat and then torture it," says the  sadist.

"Let's have sex with the cat, torture it and then kill it,"  shouted
the murderer.

"Let's have sex with the cat, torture it, kill  it and then have sex
with it again," said the necrophile.

"Let's have  sex with the cat, torture it, kill it, have sex with it
again and then burn  it," said the pyromaniac.

Silence took over... then everyone turned to  the masochist and asked:

"So, what's it gonna be?"

To which he  replies, "Meow."__________________________________________________________
Not excerpting the more eclectic portions of the worlds spiritual paths that one is exposed to and practicing the goodness of those tenets  has the distinct ability to cause some disturbances in Paradise, Valhalls and all of those other abodes that we're promised will be waiting for us.
Doubting some of the nonsense of others can be dangerous if you're in the middle of a worship service filled with zealots., I can see some hope when developing a skill at understanding metaphors and patiently explaining your take on the verses or scriptures, and if they refuse to accept your interpretations, I'd shout " Off with their heads!!" , but keep their women and their riches as tithes to your ministry. weg

Religious question, since this seems to be the thread for it...

How can a believer in Christ break every single commandment, ask for forgiveness, and enter Heaven, but a person that doesn't believe at all live his life without breaking a single rule of Christianity, and not be allowed?

Is it me, or is this just screwed up?

Nah, just idolatry. I don't think many Christians actually read that book, they just wield it as a talisman.

It's you, you are going to hell!

I think it is only Catholics that have the luxury of repenting and that through confession. Protestants are a little more judgemental and your communion is directly with god and if he doesn't like what you have done in life you are condemned to eternal damnation.

Dustyn,
Simple, "my child", only those following the "One True Religion" have the potential to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Although those following the other religions can suffer God's wrath and be subjected to the eternal damnation of Hell; if they are not Baptized into the Faith they can not expect to enter heaven regardless of how good they lived their life. They would join, Moses, Abraham, and all those preceding Jesus Christ and enter God's domain of Limbo. There they will wait until the Final Judgment, when Jesus returns to judge the living and the dead. It would seem that whatever they are doing in Limbo could still effect their final destination.

I think that's a accurate portrayal of how that question was addressed when I was growing up. They then sent us out, equipped with our pocket vile of "holy water" just in case we ran into an terrible accident. If we were lucky and at the scene, after Confirmation, we were authorized under the "special circumstance" rule to Baptize any of those dying "pagans", who were fortunate enough to have us walk by.

You can either believe that, or believe the South Park "disclosure" where only the Mormons, had "got it right".

Because You must Except Jesus that's why.
According to Christanity Jesus died on
the Cross for Our sins.

The only way to the Father is thru the Son!
According to the Bible.

It's not only by faith but by works also.

Gods know if You've truly excepted His son or not?

Yes Constantly Sinning as a Christian is Wrong!
God knows how to handle that.

Ant,
