Number one I refuse to capitalize his name, so deal. I thought we needed another bin laden, thread. Of course I am glad that we caught bin laden, very glad. I thought bin laden was going to end up dying from his infirmities or old age. Does anyone else wonder why it took 10 years to find that "person"? We have all this technology, CIA, undercover operations, top secret operatives and operations, all these secret secret police, informers, best of the best of everything in the world, and we can't find that thing that was hiding in plain sight? 10 years??? It just really makes me wonder. If he had died and we never found the body, I could understand that, but he was alive? living with his children, marrying new wives? having babies? watching t.v.? Is it just me, or does it seem a bit weird that it took so long to "locate" bin laden, especially in this day and age. Also, what about the Pakistanians, that couldn't see someone in plain sight? How much foreign aid, does the US give to Pakistan again?

if you went over to the ME you woudl find out that the people over there knew where he was every second of every day LOL then to add to the fun it was on mainstream news that the local people said that OBL did not live in the house they are claiming to have shot him in. The whole thing is fucking hilarious and for the cameras, take the heat off another fraudulent BC etc etc etc

Well, just for a snark, we can give a bit of the blame to the New York Tmes for blowing just how good we are at tracking from all types of telephones.

He was being very careful Marini, he literally didnt use telephones or the Internet (as Rich was alluding). And the Pakistani government is suspected to have been helping him, when apparently we thought they were our allies

Obviously it's because Republicans always say and they believe "government is the problem" and that's coming from Ronald Reagan. Then Republicans get elected and they prove this hypothesis. Of course I don't agree and I think Democrats are better managers because they're more pragmatic or they are not constrained by ideology.

I see two likely possibilities; 1: This is being played completely straight. They didn't know it was him with enough certainty until recently, or they felt that that a strike would cause too many problems with Pakistan relations. It is not implausible that it took this long with a person that had popular support in the area he was hiding. Intelligence can be like that; a lot of digging and listening while waiting for that big break. 2: The conspiracy theorist in me says that Bush didn't really want to find him because as long as he was loose he could be used as the boogieman, and be kept too scared to be effective. That Obama only acted now because it was politically expedient to do so, and that Obama is trying to wind down the 'war on terror'.

With such a huge reward for information leading to his capture, and with him traveling in such desperately poor countries, it's interesting no-one dropped a dime on him sooner. People like that must be taken out as soon as possible and converted because they are dangerous to the civilized world.

Nope, it is not just you who wonders, for I do too, but all I can say in answer, was OBL served a political purpose and his final purpose was boosting a flagging presidents political career. But RO is quite correct, some people do not sell out there principles for money, for there is still some integrity left in this modern world and besides OBL I believe had taken on some kind of folk hero status for being a rebel up against what many over there see as the oppressor. Perhaps OBL was seen as a modern day Saladin, seeing as it was Bush who mentioned crusade.

No. And I think people who speculate on such things have way too much free fucking time on their hands. Jesus Christ people. Get laid. Like anyone here is qualified to evaluate the intelligence activities of the various professionals from the various intelligence services involved. That laymen continually speculate upon subjects which are so clearly beyond them is one of the many things which is rapidly convincing me that democracy is really not a good idea.

Media serves many purposes, some serve those who wish to control the masses, those who wish to rob us, hurt us etc, but for every goal achieved by some entity, media in what it does, creates questions for those that partake of the media's services especially so when it is considered we have a free media, unlike say state controlled media. Of course there is agenda in free media, but it is for the viewer to make their own decisions on what they consider to be the more accurate interpretation given that the reported word is by no means a definitive. But perhaps that was a possible reason for allowing media to be free, it creates too many questions that require too many answers and as everyone is different, what better for those with malignant intentions than a state of confusion, for where there is confusion, there is not unity, i.e. no threat.

You are probably right. Like Lincoln said about the dec. of indep. and slavery, paraphrasing...better we take our CIA backed fascism whole and pure without the base alloy of a 'democratic' hypocrisy. They surely want you to believe that there operations etc. are so very complicated that you shouldn't worry about it and just leave it all to them which is exactly how the CIA does operate. But with that...their battle is half won.
