I can understand how you could come to that conclusion but age doesnt bother me. Im not looking for a vanilla relationship with a kinky dynamic. Im looking for play partners teachers munch meeters etc.

Its was hard enough trusting someone I've known half my life and have grown up with.
I can't see me placing myself in a physically vulnerable position with someone much younger than myself.

Lockit I agree with you. I have had some younger men say I should be grateful that any man would want me becasue of my age which is now 54. I do not want anybody more then a few years younger then me. The top I see is 10 years older and not a thing wrong with his age.

Well darlin, I have one thing to say about that. There was one thing you said wrong. Calling them men. Those were cruel punks that are horny and not getting any even from the younger chicks. I would have laughed my ass off and pointed out that their comment didn't say much about them. Charitable young dudes? lol Give me a break! Horny and not getting any and using passive aggressiveness to try and get some. Bah bye...

OP, you are wrong in all your assumptions. One, it is not hypothetically possible for me to find someone of your age at all compatible with me. Two, I'm not being superficial when I need someone with a great deal of compatibility including shared life experiences and lived history. And thirdly, it isn't a preference, it is a requirement.

Preferences are things that don't matter much. Requirements are those which you must have. It's a preference to wear a white or pink tennis shirt for your tennis game. It's a requirement that you have a tennis racket.

I remember hearing that the ideal age difference is when the woman is half the man's age plus seven years. I don't know how they arrived at this figure, but that seems to be the conventional folk wisdom on the subject.

I was with a sub 20 years younger then me. we were together for 4 years. She was my 1st woman younger then me ever (I picked way younger, didn't I?). We were in love (I believe me more then her). Anywho, she has different goals and is at a different stage in her life. We figured out later that it couldn't work (even if love was there).. same examples as lockit (ie, I am older then her mom).

I learned my lesson but cannot tell where the age difference limit should be.. 10 years maybe? for sure, not 20!!!

so an 80 year old man should have a 47 year old woman? seems suspect.

Op age doesn't really matter to me but maturity does. N is 7 years younger than me but you would never know it. My "ideal" age would be about 10 years older than myself. I like the tennis example of shoe colour and racket.

Age for a serious relationship is only minimally important if everything else is right. I've gone 10 years younger in a serious relationship. Age in a playmate matters even less. At 36 I was pursued by a gorgeous, sweet, and brilliant 19 year old, and I struggled with it for a long time, but my friends all unanimously told me I'd be an idiot not to go for it--and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Shortly thereafter I dated a 23 year old dom, had an amazing time, and learned things about myself that I think made me better for my beloved when we got back together.

At my current age?  19-34.

When I'm 40?  19-34.

I have consistency.

According to their website, it's 50.  At least they haven't started hounding me yet.

I can not help but see folks that are way younger than me as kids. I can still learn from them and appreciate their wisdom in many things, but to think about them in a sexual way just creeps me out.

I have always been attracted to men older than my self...

Mech, since you think our needing what works for us is superficial, then why are you seeking a female play partner? Why aren't you open to having a male? Isn't that superficial of you?

when I was dating I've always done so with men around my own age. The couple times I dated much younger or older than me was always problematic due to the age gap in particular. Plus dating someone closer to the age of my child or my father is just creepy.

What she said, but from a male perspective.

We talked on another thread about our age ranges - and I kind of flippantly wrote "Asher to Iron Bear" and you know, I mean it. It's not about age, it's about the worth of the man.

I see no reason to re-invent the wheel...

I tell them I want a man, not a boy.  Men dont need to call a woman old and all dried up when she turns him down . Before being turned down they say they love older women. I tell them good luck with finding a older woman.

There are a great deal more important (to me) qualities I consider. Age.......depending upon the woman, the chemistry and dynamic that would create......legal to ? I seriously am poly oriented. I do not expect any one person to be my everything. Different people being different aspects to a relationship potential.

It is no different than.......I do not have age requirements for friendships.
