Though I tend to prefer men a good bit taller than me, one of the most imposing Doms I've ever been with , was a scant couple inches taller - though his attitude made him seem far larger,  and I was way too distracted to think about height  !     Nice.

I do not associate height with domliness. For me, being domly isn't a height thing. I have to say, it isn't that I do not think short men are attractive, it is how being with someone a lot shorter makes me feel... it makes me feel bigger, less feminine I suppose. I know that maybe shallow and I accept that it is my own issue

I don't think it's shallow. In fact I think I know exactly how you feel. It reminds me of the sig line Dark Steven has about the boobs. Only in this case the short women want to be taller and the tall ones want to be shorter. Then I think about women talking about how scared they are because men are so much bigger and maybe it's not so bad to be tall after all. I have to admit, I have never felt like I was vulnerable and that must be a very scary feeling. I guess there are good and bad in both sides.

thinking on more, i wonder, for some of you who are Dom/mes, would you get a bigger sence of 'power' from dominating someone taller? or say bigger built, because that can also give the appearence of more height.

thanks so far guys.

needles

I'm all of 5'2".  Darn near everyone is taller than Me.

Never been an issue.

lizi -> RE: height a deal breaker? (5/17/2011 5:22:15 PM)

Short, tall, it's not a concern to me. I honestly don't care and have spent time with men of all different heights.

i agree with Julia there, the height is all about how it makes me feel. but also THB, your comment in vulnerability, that is also partly what i want to feel. when we play him being so tall gives me that feeling, like i said in another thread, knowing i'm safe but feeling anything but. i just don't think i could get that with a shorter guy.

i freely admit to initialy being very shallow when looking at a potential partner. what happens after they open their mouth depends on whether i'd want it to go further or not.

I have no desire to be shorter. My mom is 5 foot 3 and can't reach a damn thing without help....

I can also weigh more and get away with it[;)]

agirl -> RE: height a deal breaker? (5/17/2011 5:24:39 PM)

My last two sons are both 6' but I'm the super-power here and they know it...........Seriously, having never had a short bloke I can't really comment from experience.

If teeny little *me* can run this ship, with respect from my taller shipmates, I rather think that someone else could do the same thing with me.

does it matter to you? say, as a sub/slave could you feel the same domination/mastership with someone around the same height or shorter. when looking for someone is height something you take into consideration?

I don't care in the least. My past expereinces have been a wide variety of heights. I just want their minds to be taller than mine. That's not asking for much, I'm only 5'7" neurons.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: height a deal breaker? (5/17/2011 5:33:37 PM)

at 5' tall, it's not something i've ever really even had to think about. everyone's taller than me, except one very tiny friend, and my very short mom.
if i met a man shorter than me, i might be confused. if he was cool, though, i'd consider it.
i had a really great rope scene with a guy in our community who's probably 5'5 or 5'6; not super tall, but he has fantastic energy.

my late M was 6'5" =p sometimes disparate heights can cause issues with "angles of entry," etc etc, but it is nice to feel so small -- i don't really know why. if i stood at the top step of the porch, and he on the ground, we could look eye to eye. =p i used to wrap my arm around his leg when he stood next to me. haha

This is not possible because you clearly stated that you don't objectify men.

Someone needs to pay more attention to the lies they spread.

you clearly need to learn how to read. i never said anything of the sort. i said i do not mentally undress guys or fantacise about those with whom i have no involvement.

very different to looking at a guy first glance and knowing whether i like the look of him. to suggest someone is lying because they don't hold the same baselines as you is just cheap. i don't spread lies. i don't mentally undress guys, nore do i think of having sex.

do you think you can possibly understand the difference? if not tough luck, take a night course or something for i am not here to educate you.

Whether they want to admit it or not, for most subs, height is a deal breaker.

Experience speaking

you said it Hilly!

I'm 5'2".     And I've had a LOT of women online refuse to go out on a date because I'm shorter.  Sight unseen.  And yet I get the whole "if you weren't short you'd be a great match"

I'm sorry...but I truly do not understand people who won't give someone a chance due to physical characteristics.  If I told that same woman that I wouldn't go out with her because she was fat....or a red-head....or too tall...or white....I'd get called all sorts of names.

It's why I'm giving up entirely on online dating---I'm getting really tired of the "height requirements' in the dating pool--obviously, I must have wandered into the "shallow end".

Biotch!

(Do people even say biotch anymore?)

I know what you mean about feeling less feminine if you're taller than the guy, though. I haven't run into that much but I did experience it once and I didn't like it.  I don't think that's shallow, though.  Because, yanno, I'd never admit to being shallow.  [;)]

but my preference for tall man is like my preference for slim to athletic. while there is nothing wrong with a guy carrying some weight, it just doesn't do it for me when a guy has alot. alot of people have preferences that still should be respected even it they are against what we are. some guys are going to think i carry too much weight, while others may think it's not enough. my skin and hair maybe too dark if they prefer blondes. i may be too young, too old but it's all relative.

i've seen alot of suggestions on the forums for people to get out to munches and such, maybe you could do the same.

It would be almost humanly impossible to not objectify that man.

today at work we've been talking about height.

does it matter to you?

when looking for someone is height something you take into consideration?

Well, yes it is a deal breaker for me. I am 5 foot 2 inches. The males that are shorter than me tend to be around ten and twelve years old. I have no interest in them that way.

So, yes, a deal breaker.
