I agree with gte comparison to gambling addiction. A friend of mine did findomme for a while, and she had to black a guy repeatedly after he told her he was being evicted because he gave her money instead of paying his bills, and then he created multiple different emails after she severed ties with him.

Why not build in the positive, though? Improve the health of the men. Your analysis, Phil, seems to be that women should wear burkas so they won't tempt damaged guys.

Not at all, I believe many 'female online money dommes' are not even women.

The emotionally vulnerable need protection from these evil scammers.

If they are so out of control that they can't prevent themselves giving money away, and if that is having the negative impact on their lives that you seem to think it is* then they need more help than just protection from internet randoms.

*although I get some of the same mail as LnT, and I've chatted to a couple of the more eloquent and legit-sounding ones - one guy who got women to send him pictures of the pedicures he paid for, and another who was looking for (and found) a whole range of service-type roles, of which financial service was only one - and I've got to say they both seemed pretty fulfilled by the contact they were getting with the findommes in their lives.

Purely sad. I get the fin requests now and again--and why would I want all that work? I have to manage HIS budget, pay his bills, watch over his investments, make sure he's having the right amount of taxes withheld, and give him an allowance? If I wanted to do that for a man, I would get a husband.

Yes they do need protection.

The ad is active- as it is worded to cause a specified reaction in someone emotionally vulnerable, this along with some form of picture, emotionally 'mugs' the victim of said predator.

Nothing a little common sense and personal responsibility won't fix.

That certainly is unhealthy, if in fact it was true and not a fantasy on his part.  Which begs the question - should ethical dominants be willing to indulge clients in findomme fantasies, knowing that if they don't cater to these guys and keep the amounts affordable, they are likely to run into much less ethical findommes who genuinely don't care if they make someone's life worse rather than better?

This is not my kink, but I could see indulging someone in it as a fantasy, and making sure that they played responsibly, and perhaps making sure they spent their money on sensible things for their own future - eg, controlling their finances, but in an ethical and responsible way.   I'd have to really, really like someone before I'd be willing to take on that much responsibility for them, though.

Excellent analogy.

True, but many of the prey are mentally ill in the same way as alcoholics or gamblers. It seems ethically wrong and rather unsavoury. I pity these beggars/muggers, that they need money this much. They are almost stealing from the afflicted.

They aren't mentally ill.  In My definition, they are just lonely people.  Have you ever stepped back and really thought about it?  Have you honestly sat back and in your own mind wondered about the numbers and the ratios and speculated about where these people go?  Where is that little bit of happy for them?

It is, in My opinion, a position of where the demand is greater than the supply.  That is why people can make a profit from it.  I don't spend a single second blaming the women for it.  They are only taking advantage of opportunity.  If no market would exist, neither would they.

If you want to ask about beggars, look to the men who can not find what they want unless they beg to have it in their lives.  That's the answer.

I've been giving some of the profiles on here some thought and it seems to me that financial dommes are little more than beggars. What do others think?

They are con artists and nothing more.

Isn't that the same as saying they are prostitutes?

I also feel some are this.

...only if everyone taking advantage of a supply deficiency in a market is a prostitute.

Imagine people kept asking for a particular kind of guitar pick-up that was hard to get hold of, so some women started manufacturing said guitar pickup because there was a gap in the market. Are they prostitutes because they've identified a need?

Prostitutes provide a service, money dommes are merely leeches or beggars.

If you look deeper, it isn't.  I tend to think that prostitutes fill a sexual need, not an emotional one.

Well, you'll have to excuse we poor, blue collar Domme types.  I just call it as I see it.

domiguy -> RE: Are money dommes like beggars? (5/26/2011 5:21:10 PM)

Some woman/man that receives payment for doing absolutely nothing is not a prostitute.

They might be pigs and unworthy of all respect but prostitutes they are not.

If a woman/man accepts payment for a sex act then they can be considered prostitutes.

LadyPact -> RE: Are money dommes like beggars? (5/26/2011 5:22:57 PM)

Does it have to be physical sex?

You aren't wearing a burka because you can't afford one? That's terrible. Perhaps the op would be willing to donate $9.95 a minute to your Decent Clothing Fund.
