And this is bad in a consensual adult D/s relationship why?

There are health and safety issues when it comes to wearing high heels for prolonged periods or too often, but it's hardly in the category of extreme or unsafe play unless it's taken to extremes.

Just remember, some girls will never get the hang of these. Most do, but some won't. I wear three inch heals almost every day, and have tried higher ones many times. When you're 5'4", you're very motivated to wear heals, and the higher the better. I can walk like .0002 miles per hour in the higher heals without killing myself. ... past that, I end up falling and busting my ass.
 
That lovely evening dress looks so much better when you aren't bleeding from the knees.

Status: offline 		Ok why someone would expect another person to be able to walk in 5 inch heels after never walking in heels is crazy to me. Would you take a person who has never skiid and push them down the biggest hill?? heck no. Would you take someone who has never swam and dump them in the deepest part of the ocean?? again no. So why would take someone who doesn't know how to walk in heels and give them 5in heels?? Shakes my head at some peoples common sense.

Status: offline 		i personally have just mastered walking in 3 inch heals and would never want to have 5 in.  sometimes it sucks enough to be a female and then to be made to wear something that uncomfortable is unrealistic.

All the condesending comments aside here.. I'll speak from personal experience. Most of my life I've had the bad habit of walking on my toes all the time.. and I mean as far back as I can remember. Has it caused damage? Well, I can't pull my foot as far forward as most people can, I can pull it far enough forward that it's just a tad past where it would be flat on the floor. I do have high heels... I doubt that any of them are 5 inch heels, I'm pretty sure, short of those ballet heals, they don't make 5 inch heels in my size (5), but considering that size, 4 inch heels are pretty high. Even my biker boots have 3 and 4 inch heels. Yes, they look sexy, yes, they do amazing things for the way your legs look and they do make me feel very sexy too.
 
My advice to you would be to see to it that she stretches her ankles, calves and feet regularly and instead of getting her those sexy pumps, try getting her ankle boots. They are just as sexy... in my opinion they are sexier because they give that innocent look as well...plus they give her ankle support. If it ends up causing her too much pain in the souls of her feet they have come out with inserts specifically for high heels that will help with arch support and pad the bottom of the shoe.

Status: offline 		Don't be in a hurry.  Do you wish to ruin your slave?  Work up to the higher heels gradually.  Knee bends with heel raises are also good exercise.  Start slow.  That graceful walk you are looking for is an art.  If talent is 99% sweat, art is 99% patience.  A slave who can't walk will hardly look good in those heels.

Status: offline 		The biggest thing with adjusting to heels is the size of the heel not necessarily the height...though 5" heels would have me in the hospital. Back, ankles and knees are all trashed, scarred and kind of unsexy because of the corrective surgery.
Many good suggestions have been given, ballet and lower heels being what I would suggest. a 2-3" heel that is a wide not stilletto heel on a daily basis that follow an evaluation by a podiatrist making sure that foot and ankle structures are sound before starting this adventure. Teaching her grace, femininity and confidence are what are coming through to me as your goal. 0 to 5" stilettos is not the way to accomplish this...it's the way to end up perminantly damaging her. I modeled for many years when younger and lots of the things that are required to get there do not happen over night. Exercise, grace, wardrobe and elocution must be learned in stages. Set small goals that don't hinge on I've set this unreasonable and dangerous expectation I'll reward you when you don't hurt youself...this is not the way to have her gain confidence.
If she's never been in heels start in a 2-3" heel that is thicker than your thumb. Move the heels smaller as she gains confidence (more stilletto NOT HIGHER). Once she's accomplished you can go higher but start with the chunkier heel again. By then she will have gained confidence and strength to get into these 5" things...save those for when she doesn't actually have to STAND in them until you've walked her through the baby steps.

Status: offline 		While that's very nice I'm not sure kisses are going to be helpful for her calves. I think the suggestions you've been given already about stretching/exercise are good ones that can help alleviate any potential problems. And of course giving her gift certificates for pedicures/massages regularly are a must

Status: offline 		Gezzz, we have had the self appointed spokesperson for the surgeon general stating they are harmful and will cause all sorts of damage and then those who state that all her limbs will be scarred for life. I would simply suggest using common sense and working into it slow. If you want to start with the 5", it's probably fine as long as the duration of time is short. Let's call it practice..hmmm, I am certain no one started out on a bicycle with 3" wheels or learned to waterski in some sort of presoftened water..some things you just have to step into (no pun intended) slowly and get used to it. As far as permanent damage as was implied, I highly doubt the credibility of that info anyway, statistics can be minipulated anyway a specific group wants (i.e. the anti smoking groups). And as "jump to the gun" as many of the activist goody-two-shoe (still no pun meant) groups are, if there was even a shred of real evidence, I'm sure they would have high heels banned from public places at the earliest opportunity..and I haven't seen that on the ballot lately. I personally think you are quite within your rights asking for her to do this, but just use good judgement as to how much, how soon. Similar to doing pushups or situps, you wouldn't expect them to do 100 right out of the box....you would have them work up to it. OH, another note on the health issue....seems they are coming back in style full force, so apparently someone forgot to mention that little tidbit to the shoe manufacturers that they might be stepping into some liability issue (rolls eyes). We all do things that someone would regard as dangerous or bad for our health...just pick who to listen to I guess.

Status: offline 		Having worked in a podiatrists office for 3 years in the past, I have seen a lot of residual damage from overuse of high heels. Anything over 2 inches on a regular basis can cause permanent shin splints, arch damage, arthritis, bunions, hammer toe and a lot of other things that she will  not be able to easily remedy. My question is  how much damage is one willing to put a sub/slave through just for the sake of aesthetics? I would recommend keeping heel wearing to as minimum an amount of time as possible.

Status: offline 		I agree too much of anything is too much, limiting the time is essential and I am certain this will vary from person to person..I have the same issue with heavy boots..OK, not the same but sort of. All I am saying is that if they was a serious health issue, they would have to have warning labels these days, so let's not just say NO you can't make her do that, let's just say there is the potential for damage if done in excess, so use common sense.
 
Hopefully I am getting my point across without ticking people off...I just have a problem with anyone saying OH NO, you can't do that, to something that has been worn for centuries.

Then there are those of us who wore them on a regular basis for years without any damage. I danced in 5 in spike heels for over thirteen years, then tended bar in them for another eight. About the only thing i noticed is my calves were a lot stronger when i raced.

Status: offline 		Twice, I would imagine that you would be the exception to the rule, but not being a podiatrist, I could be wrong in that assumption.  I don't personally see th point in heels over about 2 inches at the most, but hey, I'm also fairly laid back most of the time about appearance, unless the social setting requires them.  But then again, I also prefer running around in jeans, a t-shirt and combat boots.  To each their own, I guess.

Oh, and if you run races, does that make you a fast woman? LOL ;)

Status: offline 		Disregarding the 'wanting her to wear them elegantly' statement, which kind of struck me wrong, I really don't see how learning to walk in a five inch heel, even if that's what you start off with, is so terribly bad.

Generally, in my life, I've had around 4 pairs of shoes at any given time.(mostly flats or very low heels) I just never was a 'shoe girl'.  Now, I am with my Master, and the FIRST thing he did was put me in boots with five inch heels.

Yes, I looked a little silly at first, but, honestly, it doesn't take long to master. (and I am under 5'2")

I'm not getting into the whole health debate here.  That is for the people involved to decide.  Heck, if that's the worst thing you to do your slave then...you may have to turn in your sadist card.
