Yeah... uh huh... nobody complained about Bush...

Because the debate is a bit disingenuous. What I've seen is that when the Republicans win- there's less bellyaching. When the Democrats are in- then it's both sides are slinging mud. Or its that government is always the problem- the same mantra that was being chanted during the Hoover administration.

It seems Trump may go for the run after all according to an abc blog
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/05/is-donald-trump-back-in-the-2012-race.html
The billionaire business mogul phoned into Fox News' "Fox & Friends" this morning to lament the state of the Republican field. He took issue with Mike Huckabee exiting the race, saying he's sure Huckabee could win and he's still sure he could have won.  Trump refused to rule out a late entry into the Republican presidential field. "Who knows if I did the right thing," he said. "I am not seeing a lot out of the Republican candidates."

Wheeeeeeeeeeeee

Donnie is keeping donnie in the news, he wants desperately to be relevent, but even moreso he needs the ratings on the show.  Its all about him.

So, maybe its down to Mitt right off.  That will not bode well.

Bullshit

Nobody has clean hands both parties have slung way too much mud and muck.   Neither of them has any right to bitch or try and act innocent.

True, but have you noticed that the term liberal has become something unworthy in the eyes of Republicans?

Can you say the same of conservatives by the Democrats?

Hell, we have a conservative faction in the Democratic Party.

Name me any Republican who will claim they are liberal.

Heck, I remember the Dukakis-Bush 1 debate where Dukakis lost the election. Bush accused Dukakis of being a card carrying member of the ACLU- as if liberal were something shameful- and Dukakis whined for a moderator- thus showing all the Republican claims that he was a wimp (him posing in a tank was pretty silly) had some basis. Had he said instead-- and with some heat- "Excuse me Senator McCarthy- I didn't know that being a liberal in this country was something illegal!" he might have had a shot....

I hope he does.

With that moron leading the Republican ticket Obama will be assured a second term.

I only hope he chooses Sarah as his running mate.

McCain, the sequel.

Wether he is serious or not, you are right Ron
I like Romney, but that should be enough to kick him out of the running::)

The politics of personality has defeted the idea that there is good in the middle.
Mitch Daniels, although I am not enamoured with him, was the best the Republican's had to offer, but the far right might have had issues. The nut bags of the Republican's have too big of a say, and the nutbags of the Democrats whine too much. Someone give me a middle ground that is agreeable, or is that just not possible anymore? I will stay with Obama, at least he is by far more towards the middle and if the Republican's had any sense they'd run Romney, but the far right may not allow it. Obama vs. Daniels would have been interesting!

That's the problem with your two party system in a nutshell, isn't it? The Republicans are more or less run by the lunatic fringe, while the Democrats are too ideologically dispersed and obsessed with internal disputes to show enough of a united front to get anything done, even when they have a sitting President and a majority in both houses.

The amazing thing that I just realized... McCain is being treated like he doesn't even exist.

I don't know much about him but I think the religious right likes him, or they will like him the more they find out about him which gives him a chance to win the nomination.

FR -

From Michelle Malkins website this morning... something good enough to share:

quote:

Ow. Ow. Doubled over from laughing so hard. Need a tissue to wipe away the tears. Hoo-boy. Via Michael O’Brien at The Hill:

Gingrich: ‘I’m not a Washington figure’

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said he doesn’t view himself as a “Washington figure,” positioning himself as an anti-D.C. candidate in his campaign for president.

Gingrich railed against the Washington establishment in a breakfast Monday hosted by the Christian Science Monitor, claiming the mantle of the “change” candidate in the field of GOP presidential aspirants.

“I’m not a Washington figure, despite the years I’ve been here,” Gingrich said. “I’m essentially an American whose ties are across the country and is interested in how you change Washington, not how you make Washington happy.”

Mitch Daniels, Christ Christie, Donald Trump, and Haley Barbour have officially announced they're out.

Huntsman, Cain, Gingrich are in, with Pawlenty and Romney obvious candidates in all but announcements. Bachmann is likely, and Palin and Santorum may be. I can't take anyone but Huntsman, Romney, and Pawlenty seriously, though.

Cool ... let me know when it's down to a reasonable number ... LIKE ZERO

Lucy, you are damn right about people remembering Reagan. Why do you think the party keeps looking for another one like him, and Obama would love to get anywhere near those sorts of numbers?

What numbers are you talking about Richie, because Reagan had some pretty piss poor ones at times.

As low as 35%.

Obama has never been that low in the polls

But let's compare the two and you will find the average approval rating is remarkably similar.

But don't let me stop you with facts intruding on your usual little rants.

Now let's look at Obama's numbers:
