Here's another possible candidate for the Republican nomination. George Pataki Reconsidering Presidential RunPosted by Christina Lam on May 24, 2011 5:14 PM . George Pataki, former governor of New York, has not ruled out a 2012 presidential run. He is currently reconsidering after the news that Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels pulled out of the race. "I'm not a candidate at this point, but down the road, you never say never," Pataki said to the Boston Globe. "We'll see what happens over the course of the next month.” For now, the Republican politician is working on an advertising campaign through his advocacy group, No American Debt, which is focused on reducing the federal debt. "President Obama has the worst fiscal record of any president in the history of our country," Pataki said. “This year, we’ll have the largest deficit than in any year in the history of our country. …It’s not sustainable.” No American Debt will run adds in New Hampshire targeting President Obama, as well as Republicans who Pataki believes aren't doing enough. Pataki wants the federal government to balance the budget the same way he claims to have done in New York: by cutting the workforce and reducing Medicare and Medicaid. Pataki's fiscal conservatism may make him popular with many Republicans, but as a presidential candidate he would also have to defend some of his stances on social issues-- such as abortion rights and a cap and trade program to curb greenhouse gas emissions. http://www.thirdage.com/news/george-pataki-reconsidering-presidential-run_05-24-2011 quote:
ORIGINAL: DarkSteven Mitch Daniels, Christ Christie, Donald Trump, and Haley Barbour have officially announced they're out. Huntsman, Cain, Gingrich are in, with Pawlenty and Romney obvious candidates in all but announcements. Bachmann is likely, and Palin and Santorum may be. I can't take anyone but Huntsman, Romney, and Pawlenty seriously, though. George-Pataki-Republican
