Either way, nothingness into somethingness and something into nothingness would both seem to violate the law of conservation of energy, which is usually thought to apply to god - i.e., "always was, always will be".

But nothingness into something doesnt violate the conservation laws as long as the sum total of matter/anti-matter (or their energy equivalents) doesnt change. Conservation hasn't been in a concern regarding the creation of something out of the vacuum since Einstein, relativity clearly allows for it. The unresolved issue is whether the equivalent of anti-matter is ordinary energy or anti-energy.

You're picking parts at random, making your argument specious: the door to the CPU didn't create the CPU, they were both created in a Fab facilities which are more complex than either the CPU or the door to it.

You are reinforcing my point not disputing it.

What exactly your point? I'm not following. I don't even think we are having the same argument.

Including Kirata's clarification, that the addition of a conscious creator to any theory of creation needlessly adds complexity to that theory.

Ok. I'll think on that.

It does amaze me when people deny the possibility of a God yet feel perfectly comfortable ascribing all of creation to wildly speculative theories with absolutely no proof. This theory is no less fantastic and unbelievable then the existence of an advanced all powerful being.

but it is good to know that people are asking questions, analysing data, creating theories and working on them rather than just blindly believing.

Damn, I thought that quote was "being a liberal requires a postive decision to turn off all your critical faculties"

And I agree with you...except the little quote at the end... I think people who have an open mind to all possibilities are the smart ones...I keep an open mind.

Yes..the natural result of conservation not being violated by pair production.

HERE is a short interesting discussion of that possibility.

Appropos the brief conversation you linked to above, I think you (and perhaps some others) may find the following presentation extraordinarily interesting.

The Primacy of Consciousness

Running time: 69 minutes.

I've never actually listened to Tony Roberts. All I've ever seen of him is some short exceedingly toothy sound bites. Isn't he some kind of motivational speaker? I don't recall Russell getting into anything like how to find love, or success, or make your life fuller, healthier, and richer, etc.

Nevertheless, those few sound bites were enough to incline me to ask you not to explain.

I dont know if he goes that far in this clip but Russell is very much into preaching "self realization and fulfillment" using a cosmic consciousness approach.

Shows you how familiar I am with the guy, you've got me saying "Tony Roberts" too. It's Tony Robbins. Those brain cells just woke up. Fuck. Now I have to coax them back to sleep again. This is all your fault. Thanks a lot.

My answer would have to be not necessarily. A lot depends on what theory is used.

Origins

I speak in two

sometimes    one grows from many
sometimes    many splits from one

two    the birth of deathly life
two    the leaving off

birth    the union of all makes and kills
leaving off    strips and is stripped

when deathly life divides itself
exchanges never cease

sometimes    through Love everything grows into one
sometimes    through Hate everyone splits into two

--------------

Fire and Water and Earth and the unfilled measure of Air

Hate Hated twice by the roots equals them
Love that's in them becomes their friend by the length and width

mind, look at her
don't sit there eyes astounded

born in their bodies
men worship her

she makes them think of desire
doing what joins them in peace and friendship

so they call her JOYOUS JOINER
Gethosyne           Aphrodite

no one alive has seen her
because she swirls in their eyes

all the roots are equal
the same in birth and age

ruling with different honor
each according to their nature
--------------

Excerpts from Empedocles, From Nature
