Its the lefts hypocrisy on the issue that is the issue for me julia, I made that very clear.

Sanity's History on the Patriot Act

I am wondering, why are you crying about this? According to your historic stance on the Patriot Act you do not really give a rat's ass about it.

I haven't voted for anyone supported the Patriot Act ever. I will continue on not voting for people who have voted for it. For example, I haven't voted for Diane Feinstein since she voted for it and Iraq. I did not support Hillary Clinton because she voted for the war in Iraq.

I will not vote for anyone who supports the Patriot Act.

I wonder why you haven't been railing against the Patriot Act in the past. I wonder why you are so suddenly against it. Your posting history indicates a certain level of denouncing those against it as somehow funny because they feared their rights might be taken away by it....why the sudden change in position by you?

May I also point out, if you think that the Patriot Act was a good idea under Bush, why are you suddenly against it under Obama? If you think the Patriot Act protected us then, well, we are still in a War Against Terror...right? I would think you would laud everyone who voted for it and supported it,instead of saying things like "neener neener neener, Obama voted for it too".. I mean, if someone does something you support, why does it matter what political party they come from.

I notice that a lot from you, bashing Obama for doing things you supported when Bush was in charge... it makes you seem a little hypocritical to me.

Many democrats originally supported this farce of an act... this is NOTHING new.

You call it ducking, I call it a stupid question.. I am not in that position, the republicans haven't even presented a candidate.

Yes, its ducking. It has nothing to do with the other candidates. Very simple, would you vote for Obama, who supports the Patriot Act, if your vote made the difference between him and any GOP candidate getting in. A non-answer is an admission that youre far more of an idealogue than you admit, either here, to yourself, or both.

Who doesnt recall the massive vitriolic rhetoric directed at Conservatives over the issue?

And your point about "soft on terror" is also at issue due to Reids statement accusing Rand Paul of helping terrorists for his opposition to the Patriot Act.

Tea Partiers are unpatriotic, they are on the side of terrorists if they oppose this?

Thats what the left tries to claim about the right regarding the act, and the war on terrorism - to this day! Even though I dont recall anyone on the right making accusations similar to Reids accusation.

Never supported the Patriot Act at anytime, still don't, but it has become one of those "Have you stopped beating your wife type of issue.(that is in a non kinky way)
The President(either party) will be damned for signing it, damned if they don't sign it. In this day and age "soft on terrorisim" is akin to "soft on communinism in the 50's.
I wonder how much good it has done for intelligence against the proposed plots, that seem so endless?

So, do you ever vote for people that vote in ways contrary to the positions you hold. Or are you just talking out your ass again, condemning people for what you do.

If I remember correctly (and I am sure I do) those that are adamantly opposed to the Patriot Act decried every politician that signed it... on BOTH sides of the aisle, which would be the vast majority of those in elected office at the time. You should get your facts straight. This is not a partisan issue

I am very ideological, I am not particularly partisan. I know you may not know the difference, but there is one.

OMFG. Are you drunk today? That is exactly his point. The majority of those that opposed it before DONT "decry it" it now because its Blowboy's baby, not GWBs. That makes it a partisan issue.

So... we will be seeing mobs of leftists burning Harry Reid and Barack Obama in effigy maybe... later today, at the latest?

Again, for consistency's sake... he should REALLY pony up with specific hypocrites he is deriding. I do not know many partisans on this board that were dramatically against the Patriot Act... most of us are the third party folks. People on both sides of the aisle disliked the Patriot Act and other from both sides supported it.

Dude, you had a sigline once, say it once why say it again (although you never availed yourself of that advice)

Neo-cons overwhelmingly voted for it the first time out and they did so this time.

We have been decrying their putrid shit all over the place, read up on it.

You guys are shoveling shit out of the bottom of the outhouse looking for something that ain't there.  You got no birth certificate bullshit, you are having some horrid press with all the ignorant bullshit legislation out there and not done one goddamn thing about the actual deficit, and are floundering as I said you would and looking for something with traction, it aint there.

Obama is in for 2012, next!!!!!!

Why not try discussing the topic, instead of the posters?

But if you insist, I am sure we could dig through the collarchat archives for some absolutely lovely little jewels...

Personally I never burned Bush in effigy. I never saw Bush burned in effigy. To be honest, I quit protesting the war in about 2005ish when I moved away from a populated area. I know that there are still peace activists marching and they are against Obama and his stances. I knew of such people when I went to Long Beach State. So your premise is false.

You should really be addressing your posts to those people who you believe are hypocrites... because none of them are on this board. There are no Obama lovers that magically gave of all of their most cherished principles to follow him. Many people were lukewarm in their positions against Bush, in other words, they may voice dislike for the totality of his positions, but they were not militant about it.

It is on topic, your position is that there are people who are hypocrites and you have cited Obama signing the Patriot Act as proof. I am asking YOU to pony up the proof of these assertions you are making...

Where is it?

There is no option for voters, which is why I am for at least a third party, would be great if we could have even more.

If you really cant recall leftists making all kinds of hay over the patriot act, and going apoplectic because they thought they were being accused of not being patriotic for not supporting the act or whatever...

Which thats what I am referring to... all the Bushitler hysteria, all the Cheney in a noose signs amd so on...

If you cant or dont recall all of that, then I simply cannot help you.

But I was here, and I recall it very clearly. And I see no reason to dispute actual reality with someone whose reality is as variable as is yours seems to be

I guess your vision doesnt recognize "Harry Reid" or any post he's mentioned in.
