Someone wanting to talk to your husband or hear your husbands voice because you'd exchanged messages on an open forum and stated you were married.... Really weird and creepy.

This is not someone you exchanged emails with on the other side? This is someone from the forums? IF that happened, then it's creepy. You might want to consider whether the person's just fucking with you, and you're letting them. You might also want to consider that the person thinks you're full of shit, and it trying to call you on it. i would definitely consider that this is the internet, and a request, however creepy, made over the computer can't hurt you. It's not like they left a horse's head in your bed, or put a bullet in your mailbox. THAT would be creepy.

If their email bothers you, then block the person. Problem solved. Then again, you could starts a thread about it to draw attention to the fact, and let this person know just how much they got to you. The choice is yours. Assuming that it even happened at all.

pam

Nah, it was a forum statement and I agree, they doubt my veracity..Despite the fact I have not in the least challenged them on theirs and wouldn't as some boundaries even in the eworld should not be crossed. It was a weird and creepy thing to do; like you say though it can't harm me.

You may sense that I don't have a lot of sympathy with you on this one. And you've also missed my point. She's winding you up because it's funny. And I can see her point - I mean, look at you go! You're the spinning top that just keeps on whirling.

I think it's maybe because I'm from the UK scene,
where we expect people to be accountable for who they are - most scenesters have an ic profile where people go on record to state that they've met them and are members of their real life network.

This is mine, such as it currently is:

http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/p/VaguelyCurious/

So I'm used to people expecting me to back up my claims of where I've been and who I know. You? Clearly not so much.

I don't think it's cultural, VC.  I'm guessing it's pretty darn funny no matter where you're from.

Oh believe me, I get that it's funny wherever you are. But a couple of people have said that had the request been made in seriousness then it would have been creepy, and I'm just sitting here thinking...nah.

If it is in seriousness, it's creepy.

Yes, it is "weird". I've had a few people try to get more than I've offered. Just nosiness. I just smile behind the screen..It would be nice if I couldn't see what people are doing at times, more often..That would be refreshing.

Probably, as some posters see nothing strange about someone asking to hear anothers partner on microphone. That's just weird.....and creepy.

To you perhaps. I never saw whatever spun this all up but I'm gathering there was some question about whether your partner existed and was really sitting next to you. If I had asserted that Carol existed and was sitting next to me and someone said "Put her on skype", I would. Well, I would if I actually cared that that person know the truth. What's the big deal? What's the weirdness? How is it creepy? Nobody can stalk Carol via Skype. I didn't give them a key to my house.

Nah. Maybe I've just become acclimatised to a culture of accountability, but if you *specifically* say someone's sitting right next to you and reading (which you didn't have to do, you could just have said that she knew you were using the site) then I think you can expect people to ask for her to say hello.

That's almost exactly as I see it. I know some others disagree, it's all about boundaries and personal space even on the intrawebbe.

PhilSlave: Why do you keep asking questions that you don't care about the answer to? Is it merely to broadcast your own opinion on the same topic half a dozen times? I mean... really?? You ask. You get a variety of answers that disagree with your stance and instead of showing even moderate respect (or awareness) that other humans have a variety of experience and thoughts on any given topic you just reiterate your opinion repeatedly with a remarkable lack of insight into theory of mind.

Not that you inquired but... It is my opinion that you could benefit from a new hobby or perhaps volunteer some of your time to a cause you care about.

Yup, I'm seeing it exactly the same as you VC. I have no issue with being accountable and it's just a freakin "hello". It's not like I'm promising to loan Carol out for 6 months.

As usual though it depends. I spoke for myself without reading a whole lot of what was said. If I had said a "thing" and someone said.."Show me". Depending on my mood, and their attitude, I might say fuck off. I might also oblige.

I also agree with this, however, if you just shared you were married and in a relationship and the person you were with read posts. It should be clear they are not interested in actively posting. So asking for anything more is strange.

Does anyone else think it is really weird and creepy how phil keeps saying everything is weird and creepy?

Absolutely.  He seems to be a bit of a drama queen who has a habit of making mountains out of molehills.

I'm amazed that he doesn't realize that we see through his charade.  He has made so many statements that are either contradictory, or that don't pass a simple test of reasonableness, that most people probably don't believe anything that he says anymore.

That's where I am on him.  I think he's full of crap.  When you read the body of work that he has created here, it is very easy to draw the conclusion that he's definitely not who/what he says he is.  That's probably why someone asked him to verify whether a person that he claimed was sitting next to him actually exists.  He's like the boy who cried wolf; nobody believes anything he says anymore.

Actually everything i've said is true. Mostly though i've asked questions, and made a few statements. :-)

I cannot believe you would start a thread in the general discussion section because someone asked to talk to your girlfriend. This isn't rocket science, you think someone is weird, block them, get the fuck over it and yourself. Why are you wasting our time.

Believe it or not, many of us not only do not know about your drama off site with other CM members, we don't fucking care, either

And the content of your questions speaks volumes about your age, social skills, experience levels in relationships (both BDSM & vanilla), and emotional maturity.

You sound like a geeky 16 year old who has never had a girlfriend, and who has no hope of ever having sex.  You demonstrate an obvious lack of understanding of basic human interactions.

Frankly, your questions are more telling than your statements.

It doesn't surprise me that someone asked you to verify that a woman was actually sitting next to you.  I seriously doubt that you could get a woman to even sit in the same room with you.

But of course, I could be wrong.  You could just be pretending to be socially inept.  Oh wait, if you were doing that, then that would make you a troll.

So you're either a troll or a loser........or both.
