Disclaimer: This post is SERIOUS, not silly. We actually both have that problem. Suze is pronounced "sooz", and Cheri is short for Cherisse, so it's actually pronounced "sharee". But I gave up on that years ago.

Oh, there is one mispronunciation that still kinda gets me: Linda. But it's understandable, given most Americans have never seen my name anywhere else. So their brains turn it into a name with which they are familiar.

My real name is Linea, which is a misspelling of Linnea, a Swedish name derived from LinnaeaBorealis, or the twinflower. I pronounce it lin-AY-ah. With the misspelling, the Norwegian pronunciation rules say that it should be pronounced LIN-eh-ah. Or so I've been told. But I will answer to almost anything, seriously.

I've been pronouncing it Lin-ay-a too - hey great minds and all that. Still, thanks for clarifying, I like to pronounce peoples' names properly even if it's just in my head. It's one of my quirks. I do it with books too, I went nuts when I was reading the Millenium books because try as I might I couldn't get the Swedish words right....then I gave up.

I've been pronouncing Sooz, Cheri and LinAYah right all this time! YAY ME!! (of course, even if I mangled it, Linicious would lubs me anyway.. right?.... RIGHT???)
