posters modify your profile name either here or on the other side? Ex: It dosn't bother me when folks call me VP. Or do you prefer newbies call you by your complete profile name and let the posters you've corresponded with on a regular basis modify your name?

No, but then again everybody just calls me Heather, so its not really an issue with me. I started out using full profile names, but noticed everybody else using shortened forms so just decided to do it too. Hopefully nobody minds. Actually I'll be watching this thread and making note of those who don't like it, so I don't do it to them. Very useful thread![;)]

It doesnt bother me a bit. I am amazed that folks try so hard to call me by my entire jstanothersub here. jst werks, or hell, maybe I will make a new account with the name I am used to answering to on-line.....grouchysweetness. That could also be a good sub name huh? And folks would call me grouchy, which I have answered to for years! Hmmmmmm.... Anyhow, I have seen some folks, mostly on this site, who get plum pissy if you do not address them by their entire name. As if saving a few keystrokes indicates some sort of cyber disrespect. Of course, since i am a grouch, I tend to want to call them anything except what they wish to be called. eta a pissy to go with the plum.

Chaos has dyslexia, so i've become used to such things in text and on paper. After 11 years, there are still days when he'll ask how to spell my given-name. i'm not irked by it, but sometimes when someone will use "FF" it takes me a moment they are addressing me.

Nah, I don't mind. People who message me on the other side have fun changing my name around. I'm smartypants, smartass, smart, smartypiesub to name a few that I remember. [:)]

On the serious side, it's always nice when someone addresses me politely and with respect but being called RS on the forums is fine. Beats hearing, "you ouchy mother fucker, that hurt" and having to explain "it's a whip my dear, it's supposed to hurt..

I really don't care what anyone calls me, here or IRL. It does amuse me when people take the time & care to spell out my whole screen name because I even have trouble doing that! So I've been called LB, Linn, Linnea, etc. When someone gets their panties in a twist about what they want to be called here, it makes me poke at them. Cause I'm a little perverse imp that way. Plus, I grew up listening to Lenny Bruce. So I love that these people award me the power to piss them off. Words & names only have the power that one gives them.

Nope. Doesn't bother Me a bit. The only time it irritates Me is when someone decides it's a good idea to call Me "Mistress" on the other side. (That means just "Mistress" without My name being involved in some way.) On the boards, it can be a bit confusing if someone just shortens in to "Lady". There are a few of us with that as the first part of the screen name, so if we're all on a thread together, it can be hard to figure out which one of us a comment is directed to. Other than that, I'm good with LP, Pact, or any other thing that folks use to abbreviate it.

I really never care what anyone calls me. Hell if I don't get angry at my real birth name being slaughtered into ten different names then I sure don't care if my screenname is lol.

It depends on how they modify it and the tone of the post. If it's someone I know or have corresponded with in CMail or on the boards, they get a lot more leeway than someone I don't know. I have and do answer to Sylvere, Syl, Sylvie, Sidhe who must be obeyed, and a variety of other monikers. If someone is obviously being antagonistic or patronizing, they get zero latitude. It's my screen name or Ms. ap Leanan, tyvm.

It doesn't bother me. I have been called Red, DRH, and when CrouchingTigress used to post, she used to call me DHR (she got the letters mixed up). The latter got reduced to DaddysHatRack, then HatRack. Heck, I have 7 siblings, 13 nieces and nephews, and 17 great nieces and nephews. I have always been damn lucky that anyone ever gets down the list to my name, and pretty much answer to anything. [;)]
