I honestly can not recall ever hearing cursing from peers til junior high school.....I still believe that any child who uses curse words at the age of 6 is only parroting what they ehar at home.  I have seen too many examples that prove this to be true in my 20 years working in elementary schools.

I could not recall saying that the only way kids learn to curse was from home, so I went looking to see if I had said it and forgotten.  The above is the closest I found, and it clearly states that "I have seen too many examples that prove it to be true in MY 20 years working in elementary schools.

You might want to look a little closer at what you said....I've bolded the relevant section for you...

Being disingenuous about what you said in a medium where what you said is permanently preserved is a pretty dubious tactic. Quoting the section where you did say what you claim you didn't say is a...well...lets just say its pretty special...in that short bus kind of way.

Short bus kids are more exciting anyhow.  Communication is not my strongest suit, so i will concede I sucked at making my point.

I do stick by the fact that the children I have had to deal with, who curse, have all learned it at home.  As for the millions I have not had to communicate with the parents regarding, well, I never intended to speak of them.

Julia.. my guess is you could go to the theaters site and determine for yourself if the PSA has had a negative or positive affect.

Not that I care what the 'public response' would be.  I am all for a theater that has a strong, and set, policy for those that violate their PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED POLICIES.

Yer gonna interrupt my viewing of the movie, by texting/etc?  GTFO!!!

Did anyone catch this piece?

As many of you know, I really can’t abide people who talk during a movie. A couple of years ago I was accosted in the Village parking lot by a patron who was warned for talking in a movie. I’ve nearly come to blows more than a few times over the years with rude customers over the same issue. When we adopted our strict no talking policy back in 1997 we knew we were going to alienate some of our patrons. That was the plan. If you can’t change your behavior and be quiet (or unilluminated) during a movie, then we don’t want you at our venue. Follow our rules, or get the hell out and don’t come back until you can.

Recently, we had a situation where a customer persisted in texting in the theater despite two warnings to stop. Our policy at that point is to eject the customer without a refund, which is exactly what went down that night. Luckily, this former patron was so incensed at being kicked out, she quickly called the office and left us the raw ingredients for our latest “Don’t Talk or Text” PSA. You can check it out below, or come to the Alamo this weekend where the video will be playing before all of our R-rated movies.

.......

What drives you the most crazy in a movie theater?

Wow. That's some seriously energetic tail-chasing there, with ostentatious finger wagging all at the same time.

Most impressive.

One can easily see how the minor detail of actually having a point might have been overlooked in all that.

I worked in customer service and I had a high tolerance for self absorbed stupid twats. That was what I got paid to put up with...

I just have a different opinion...

About a year ago I got REALLY mad at my cable company, as in seeing red mad. I was mad because they raised my bill by 50 bucks a month. The reason I got mad was because I got a phone call from one of their reps about how to continue to get the same rate on my tv and internet service even though my contract had expired. He told me that if I got a phone bundled on my service then I wouldn't have to pay anymore. I asked him three times to assure me that my bill would remain the same if I added the landline, and he said THREE times that it would. It didn't make sense to me, but hey, if he was promising my bill would remain the same by adding more services, I was in!

I didn't even own a phone at the time. I told the guy i had no interest in a phone, but he said in order to add the service I needed to get a phone. I went to the store and bought a phone for my unwanted and unneeded landline. I figured it was 25 bucks, and it would save me 30 a month....

When I got my bill I called to straighten it out and they repeatedly told me that I agreed to something I had not agreed to I was so pissed, yes, I lost my temper, yes I yelled. Yes, they had to transfer me, and in the end, they not only took off the extra charges, but they credited my account for the phone I bought.

Now, someone listening to portions of that phone call might think I was an out of line customer. I wasn't. I was a pissed off customer. And I was about two seconds away from firing their asses and going without TV ( that was the only service I could get in a historic building)

My point of relating the above is that I know from personal experience how frustrating it can be dealing with people on both sides of the equation. And even though I had never in my life yelled on a phone before, even I had my limits.

Such conversations shouldn't be aired for shits and giggles

Such conversations should never happen.  If you can not right a wrong about a service issue without screaming and yelling to some poor sap who is making $10 an hour, you (generic you) deserve to be made fun of.

If you are asking to be transfered to someone who can help you and being told repeatedly that you have ti wrong, when you don't you get frustrated... especially when you do not have the funds to pay the overcharge...

Some of us are pretty protective of our credit rating.

GreedyTop -> RE: Texter gets kicked out of theater and leaves (profane) VM (6/8/2011 12:42:12 PM)

well, ideally, yeah.

this idiot ignore TWO WARNINGS.
NOte that she never mention\ed that she didnt have the money to pay any non existenent fines.

she was ejected after two warnings, paying only the entry fee.

I never implied that you should pay the overages that were charged in error.

I said something such as this can be resolved without yelling and screaming at some poor customer service rep.

Yeah it was, but in your case it was required, that was some pretty impressive bullshiting on your part. The best I can figure, your point was that despite the facts, you have decided to lie through your teeth and claim that something was said that wasn't. Lying about what was said on a message board where the messages are preserved for all to see is a really stupid thing to do, but in truth, I expect that sort of thing from you.

The same goes for your "Yes I was full of shit, but I had a point to make and therefore it really doesn't matter that my post was complete lies...I had a point damnit!!!" reply is also typical of you.

A bit of advice for you Fast Eddy, in the future, if you have a point to make, just make it, dispense with the window dressing of lies and misinformation...you may be surprised at just how many people might actually pay attention to you then.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Texter gets kicked out of theater and leaves (profane) VM (6/8/2011 2:28:08 PM)

I learned to swear at home. My mom told us Fuck you all the time, and go to hell and other lovely abusive things when I were just 10. So I learned it from her when I eventually started telling her to go fuck off , and no YOU go to hell when she'd scream go to hell at me.

My brother taught me to say suck my balls when I was just a little kid, I don't remeber how old, he thought it was funny. But I repeated it at school an got in trouble for it. He also thought it was funny to tell myself and my childhood friend dirty jokes.

My neighbor swears at her kids, when they were in day care the daughter of the day care started saying things like fuck around the lil kids, the kids then came home and said fuck at the dinner table. they're 10 or maybe they're 11 now. Now I don't know if her kids swear, but ,Kids to model what they hear and see at home, it's not always why a kid cusses or does bad things, but I will not say it is never learned from home.

Kids don't learn to swear at home, they learn at the park and playground, where they learn most of the important life skills.

Topping, I can only say that your upbringing seems to be as different from mine as it possibly can be. I don't think I ever heard my parents swear and the swear words I brought home I lost fairly quick, let's just say swearing was strongly discouraged at home, you got one warning and you used that word again - well, being grounded just wasn't fun...

My dad owned a machine shop.  Lets just say that having ones mouth washed out with Lava soap makes one sure to never utter bad words around their parents again.  That shit hurts!
