Popeye you are a brilliant example of why America is racing towards the middle of the pack. All of you assholes in the search mediocrity should really let up about now, after all we as a Nation have already achieved your goals....we seem to be firmly in the middle of the pack as a Country...unless of course what you really want is for us to bring up the rear?
Please allow those of us who would seek to ADVANCE America and Americans handle the next few elections.....youngest sit back and bitch and moan..it would appear to be what you are best suited to doing!!

Conservative Mike, you're entitled to your opinion.
We're in the "middle of the pack" because we've spent way too much money! How many countries in "the front of the pack" are in deep debt like us?
Oh, you mean "ADVANCE America" like Oblunder's doing?

I personally don't like Romney because he comes off like a NE elitist. I hate Romney care, and it's a disaster, IMO. He's anti second amendment, and while he may be personally fiscally responsible, his state is in pretty rough shape.

The fact that he's Mormon is the only positive thing in my book.

I'm reading "The 19th Wife" which is historical fiction set beginning in the 1830s and 2005. Brigham Young sounds like a wackadoo (there wasn't too much on Joseph Smith) and I'll have to get some non-fiction. Any recommendations?

Interestingly, when Massachusetts health care reform was passed it had state and federal Republican support. But since the federal Affordable Care Act used it as a model, now it and Romney are EBIL.

I just moved from FL back to MA. FL is in much worse shape. Where'd you get your stats from? MA is in better shape than more than half the country.

http://247wallst.com/2010/10/04/the-best-and-worst-run-states-in-america-a-survey-of-all-fifty/2/

19th. Massachusetts
Debt per Capita: $14,079 (49th)
Unemployment Rate: 8.8% (26th)
Home Price Change (’06 – ’09): -8.6% (44th)
Median Household Income: $64,081 (6th)
Massachusetts is a good example of a state which falls towards the median range of our ranking, not because it is either high or low in its metrics overall, but because it does very well by some measurements and very poorly by others. It is third in GDP per capita, seventh in poverty level, sixth in median household income, and, at 4.2%, has the smallest percentage of its residents without health care coverage. On the other hand, it is 49th in debt per capita, at $14,079 for each citizen, and it had the sixth-worst decline in home value from 2006 to 2009.

Methodology:

24/7 Wall St. considered data from a number of sources, including Standard & Poor’s, the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the National Conference of State Legislators, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the National Association of State Budget Officers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics provided unemployment data, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis provided GDP per capita. Credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s provided credit ratings for all 50 states. A significant amount of the data we used came from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Data from ACS included violent crime rate, unemployment rate, GDP per capita, percent below the poverty line, high school completion for those 25 and older, median household income, debt per capita, percent of the population without health insurance, and the change in occupied home values from 2006 to 2009. The ACS released its 2009 numbers on Tuesday, September 28th, 2010. These are the values we used in our survey. Once we reviewed the sources and compiled the final metrics, we ranked each state based on its performance in all the categories.

No pops we are in the middle of the pack due to the short shrift this country gives to education...and your longing for a regular guy sort of President has already been done to death....there is no way to go less intellectual than Bush....pardon me if I take exception to your wishes to go down that fucked up road again.Just because you are a simpleton, and you prefer one like you in the Oval is no reason for the rest of us to jump off the cliff with you and your like minded brethren.Give me an exceptional man in the White House....much more preferrable than another Bush lightweight.

I think your premise is wrong, Romney leads in polls of GOP voters, and unless Perry gets in is the odds on favorite imo.

only one has him up is rassmussen (and not by much) and we know whatever rassmussen says we can believe the opposite, just like whatever you say.

The track record of both speak for themselves.

Romney comes across to me as the conservatives best and brightest so, obviously I am not the brightest because I just don't get the animosity for him from the GOP? What am I missing? Why doesn't the GOP want to see this guy get the nod?
Because the fundamentalist Christian Right has the Republican Party by the balls, and Romney is a Mormon.

As there is a first time for everything, I agree with Kirata on this. Romney is the smartest, least loosery of all the choices IMO.

He may be referring to Romneycare again rather than the state as a whole. Romneycare hasnt done what it was supposed to...bend the cost curve down, reduce ER visits (which have actually increased) and so on. That is his primary weakness, one that Perry doesnt have.

Compared to OBAMA????  Nothing is wrong with Mitt Romney.  Of course, if that is the standard we are setting, nothing is wrong with Daffy Duck either.  I think the governor of Texas is going to make a very interesting candidate.

Republicans also held up Massachusetts as an example of a health care horror.

To now support its architect would be problematic.

The primary goal of Romney-care is to allow everyone residing in Mass. access to medical care.

And that goal was achieved.

The provision to make everyone buy or have some sort of insurance was a concession to republicans during committee negotiations of the health care reform bill and was an idea originally pushed my Mitt, when he was a moderate republican.

On a strictly objective basis it is not all that probematic, but on a sound bite basis it is a huge problem. The question is whether independent voters will take the time to understand why, despite the similarities between them, Romneycare is far more defensible than Obamacare.

Find a dictionary where "power...is vastly overstated" implies "myth" or is synonymous with "no power".

God help the kids you taught.
