While working at a general store in southern Arkansas, a couple of Canadians came in looking to find the town of Tokyo. Yes, there is a such a place in Arkansas, its close to Bin Lomin, but no one is gonna know where that is either. [8\|] Our store had got a shipment of long-johns in by mistake. We put them in the bargain bin to hopefully get them sold. The couple from Canananada were so very happy to see how 'cheap' we were selling the thermal-wear, and they grabbed the whole shipment out of the bin. i liked them. They were very happy and polite, just seemed good natured. They had a bit of a hick feeling to them, and they said "Eh" a lot. Their accents were fun.

i like the image canada projects, but i've never been there. some relatives of mine went for their anniversary and said it was pretty nice. one of these days i'll go. Shades of Araby is another reason to like Canada! hooray ATS!

I just do not like the way they handle animal rights (babyseals and whalehunting) But that is my issue... And not that I'm really satisfied with my own country, but we do have animalcops nowadays!

AHHHH -- you're right there; i really am not a fan of the seal and whale hunts. when it's been shown that the seal population is not able to sustain the quotas they're allowing, and they RAISE them? that is bonkers. i DON'T like that. most places on earth don't treat animals well, though, honestly. it's something i generally dislike about the human race.

I loved the visits I had. But the place is uninhabitable between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Also, the COL is ridiculous.

An enviable situation. On the surface this appears to be so, but when you factor in health care costs it doesn't hold up so well. And the real reason why our economy is doing so well and didn't tank is because our financial sector is heavily regulated, they just simply cannot engage in the crazy practices that led to the melt down. I realize this is an unpopular idea south of the border, but it is so.

Sorry Lilly, but your talking out of your ass here.The seal hunt has been the traditional way for fishermen to make money in the early spring, before fishing season begins. The fact that the people who do it now may be out-of-work fishermen is incidental, its been what fishermen (working or not) do in the spring for hundreds of years. And as for the whale hunt, as far as I know that's pretty much the same as in the States, certain aboriginal groups who have a tradition of hunting whales are allowed to continue, but nobody else is. I haven't researched this, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it is.

It's INT based, so my base Mod is +3. In this particular case, I would probably allow 1/2 my WIS mod to be applied (it's very much based on common sense), so that would be an additional +2. Furthermore if I make my Local History NWP (16) and my Economics NWP (9), I can get a +1 for each. So my final modifier would be +5 to +7 (most likely a +6), depending on how I roll the NWPs.
