She said that in response to your posting that a gay Republican said "I'm gay, not stupid."

She was saying that it's possible to be both gay and stupid.

yeeaah i dunno how any brown person stayed republican after seeing how they joked about obama. the foodstamp thing with fried chicken and watermelons, and the cartoon of watermelons on the white house lawn were just insane.

Here is how it reads to me, you are drawing a false analogy between making fun of Bush's resemblance to chimps and those who make fun of Obama in racist ways because it suits your partisan agenda. Edited to add: I am not one of these people who gets upset at political caricatures, cartoons, photoshopping... it is what people do to amuse themselves and to voice dissent. We had to institute laws to force people to play fairly with people of different colors, and now we have this legacy that people want to deillegitimize the president because of his skin color. what I saw was

1. you said your gay friend is a Republican because in his words he's "gay not stupid" and later clarified that it was a snipe at the democrat party

I do not think it is appropriate under any circumstances to threaten anyone's life, be they president or not, and those people were arrested.

At the same time, it has always been a great American pastime to make fun of our elected representatives, since the founding of the nation, for crying out loud. I do not have trouble with making fun of our elected representatives, but I am offended by making fun of people because of their race. It reminds me of stuff like this

I COMPLETELY AGREE... that's why I state it's stupid when EITHER side does this garbage -- the way some on the Right depicted Obama as Clown/Nazi (for example)... and the way some on the Left depicted Bush as a Chimp/Nazi (for example). It's wrong no matter who does it. Period.
