ORIGINAL: Whiplashsmile4 Prozac and other drugs do a great job at making people numb to emotions and disturbing thoughts. Pretty sad, that if they actually got some physical activitiy and a better diet their moods and sense of self value..might just be a little more healthier. This is such garbage, I don't even know where to start. People take SSRIs when the only emotions they have are the dark, self defeating, self hating and suicidal ones. Changing diet and exercise won't affect suicidal ideation at all. And if you aren't feeling anything, it's a sign to go back to the doctor and change the dosage or the medication because that's not the desired result. Bipolars are more likely to feel numb, just before they hit a bad depressive stage. Not a sign to go off the meds, a sign to call your doctor and therapist asap. Ok, way late to the party and off topic to boot, but Whiplash, Des is spot on here. I'm on prozac and birth control because without it, I'm suicidal once a month. This is after increasing my exercise, reducing the junk that I eat, spending enough time outside that I'm darker than I have been since I was in marching band and I've had at least 6 people at work think I've bleached my hair, and losing over 30# in the last 6 months. I'm far more concerned about attitudes like yours towards mental health issues than I am about whether or not some twit gets her panties in a bunch over a guy opening a door for her. Views like that are why people don't go to get treated and end up in far worse condition than they need to be in.
