ORIGINAL: LookieNoNookie Well, I still open doors, and frankly I don't give a shit if anyone likes it or not. (Now, to be frank, I charge $5.00 per situation to do so.....but I still do so). But, in answer to your question....yes....it's harder to be a man in this day and age than when I was a kid (some) years back. Often you're (men) abused for being gallant. Makes you wonder why women are pissed....when men are trying so hard. (I still want $5.00). When was the last time you saw a man being abused for being polite and opening a door? Happened to me about 18 years ago. Opened a door at a post office for an older (then {she} 48...I was 30 something)...got told (to my still amazement) "I can open a fucking door myself you know!!!!!!" Never forgot that....caught me entirely off guard....wanted to say..."fine you piece of lowlife human fucking sewage....let me shut this fucker in your gawdamn face as well" (said of course, in the most submissive of ways LOL). To be honest, I would consider what she said as rude and lacking all social graces, but not as abusive. I might have been tempted to say something like "Oh, I was told to be nice to elderly ladies" and made her day [:)] But you know, something that happened 18 years ago once to you, I hardly would consider that a regular occurrence, yet this myth about guys get abused for being gents persists... Makes you wonder who creates those rumors and what they are trying to achieve? I think it's the people who want to put back time, you know have women shackled to the kitchen sink (possibly because they're worried about the competition in the work place by women) and call it the "good old days"... Seems the ministry of misinformation is doing overtime...
