Oh...and you asked what my credentials are.  Fine...we will trade.  I have a J.D. and a Series 7.  I have amassed a pretty large amount of property.  I employ a number of people.  What do you do for a living, Joe???  What degrees do you have?  How many people do you employ?

I'm going to make a guess that someone who believes that taxes incentivize growth employs NO ONE.  I am going to also hazard the guess that you don't have your own business and you may not even be employed.  I am also going to take a shot in the dark and say that you are in your late teens or early twenties.  Now be honest...I was.

Capitalism/Socialism 50/50 blend, or some similiar mix is inevitable, its just a matter of time.

I have no idea HOW the United States will end up, but Capitalism in its present form is not going to last, and will not be sustainable.

Unbridled corporate greed is going to be the catalyst that produces the changes, that are coming our way.

Its a pity though, it could have worked, but unbridled corporate greed, and policies such as unbridled outsourcing have pretty much fucked this country up.

I seriously doubt the United States will survive much longer in its current Capitalistic state, at the least Capitalism as we know it is going to change.

You connect the dots.

No Marini...you have ZERO idea what you are talking about.  Capitalism works, it has always worked it always will work.  It is the most natural system.  People compete with each other and the better product wins.  Does there need to be some regulation?  Sure.  But the bad products and the less productive producers get weeded out and that is how it should be.

He's not to fair off the mark. This country had, for a time, something known as 'Regulated Capitalism'. A form of capitalism in which EVERYONE played by the same rules, and law-breakers were stiffly punished. In a very simple form, a 'Regulated Capitalism' is best though of as the 'Monopoly' board game. There are certain things one can and can not do in the game. If a rule is invented thats not in the rules (i.e. money from 'tax time' and such placed in the middle for when someone lands on 'Free Parking'), all the players have to agree to it. Now, the game doesn't account for all the plumbers, carpenters, shippers, sales agents, etc, that exist in real life. That is rather assumed to keep the game simple and fun to play (though I'm sure some of you groaned just reading the name of the game).

It always amuses me how little you understand the business world from either a 'real world' or 'academic' perspective when I read stuff like "People compete with each other and the better product wins'. I could explain how that statement is foolish, but it would be entirely off topic. One of the reasons to keep a inferior product on the market, is that it would cost to much for someone else to improve upon it and than sell to the public.

We already have socialism, Marini.  Understand?  We did Tarp and the Stimulus and the Omnibus to the Stimulus and then we did the QE 2.  We pumped trillions of dollars into businesses and banks that were corrupt with the consent of our government and then they imploded.  There was rampant fraud, Marini, but no one got prosecuted.  Their government sanctioned corruption and gambling was "nationalized".  Understand?

And how did those businesses get that way, if they were in a 'regulated capitalism' from the '80s and 90s? A group of folks known to the public as 'Republicans' removed regulations, and the inspectors which than allowed those companies to do things once considered 'illegal' and/or 'unethical'. Judging by your hatred of Democrats, its safe to assume you voted for the very type of crap, your now bitching about. Perhaps you should consider WHO and WHAT you vote on in the future. That way, you dont appear that much of an idiot to all of us.

Hate to break it to you, but many aspects of the USA run on Socialism. Imagine if the US Military was run under a Capitalistic system? In which rich sons and daughters got high officer ranks not by their achievements, intelligence, or education, but by how much Daddy gave Uncle Sam? Some countries have done that (including the both sides of the American Civil War). I think I'll take the whole 'achievements, intelligence, and education of our officers' even if that means the system is socialistic in practice. Likewise, the law enforcement works on a socialism system. So do does the local fire department. It keeps 'favoritism' down.

quote:

ORIGINAL: lockedaway
We the people absorbed their losses and those corrupt executives left with millions in their pockets and started up new ventures.  That is called socialism for the rich and super rich.

Really? Starting 'new [business] ventures' is socialism? Technically, 'We the People' didn't absorb the losses, the US Goverment did. Under Bush, it was done 'without strings', and under Obama 'with' strings. Those businesses were happy to take the money from Bush, but gave all sorts of crap to the Obama administration for doing it. In fact, all the loans given out to those companies not only was paid back, but 'We the People' made a profit on the loans.

quote:

ORIGINAL: lockedaway
We also have socialism for the poor....it is called welfare and HUD Housing and food stamps and medicare.

WOW, your 'tough' to pick on the poor and disable. How much coal do you get every year in your stocking?

quote:

People who do not pay any federal taxes, including 35 million illegal immigrants, get free education, police protection, fire protection, free medical, sanitation services, jail services, court services without paying one dime in federal taxes or into social security.

35 million eh? You do have a source for that 'accurate' number right? Or is that number as useless a concept in your brain as 'socialism' when compared to the real world's concepts of either term? And I hate to tell you lockedaway, illegal immigrants pay taxes. I know, its shocking to you. They dont get the 'illegal immigrant' discount on food, gas, cigarettes, small/large item purchases (i.e. tvs, stereos, washer/dryer, etc). They pay the same price as everyone else at the register. If they are on a toll road, they pay the SAME toll as all the others on the road. A good chunk of them (mostly those that have lived in the country longer than 4 years) voluneetarily pay income taxes (its not much, but they do pay). The IRS is under no responsiblity to do the DOJ's job.

They even work in harsher enviroments, for a helluva a lot less pay, and put up with considerably more bullshit than you do. So you might consider cutting them some slack in the future. Oh, yes, they broke a law. Have you broken a law (including driving 1 mph over the posted speed limit)? And if you did, did you 'turn yourself in' at the police station, and DEMANDED the maxinmun penalty for the crime? No? Then stop being a hypocrite!

quote:

ORIGINAL: lockedaway
So if you take the rich and the super rich out of the equation...that only accounts for about 10% of the population or LESS.  Take out the retirees, those that are beneath the age of majority, those that are here illegally, those that are on welfare and those that earn so little that they don't pay federal taxes and there goes between 40-47% more of our population.  What is left is a narrow little slice that makes the country run and that narrow slice has a form of capitalism and is taxed to death.  Understand?

Ah yes, you believe its those evil taxes, that are preventing you from enjoying 'life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness', right? I could put money down, that states you have really no clue about your own financial situation nor financial discipline to 'build wealth' (building wealth is MUCH different from 'getting rich').

Oh look!!!  Another person that doesn't know what they are talking about!  Hi Marini.  Let me ask you a question.  Did corporations outsource BECAUSE IT CAUSED THEM TO LOSE MONEY??? Genius...  They outsourced because they increased profitability.  You want to make it less profitable to outsource?  Make it cheaper to do business in the United States.  Only a fucking idiot would think that you can attract business by making your business climate expensive and a regulatory cluster fuck.  Geniuses like you want to tell a business "Fuck you, you will do business here and like it."  And then you want to tax them to death, try to block right to work laws, try to block laws prohibiting collective bargaining for benefits, tell them they can't do business because it might threaten the arachnoid flatulenta and every other fucking predatory impediment you can do to a business....that is why business is leaving and rightfully so.

Sprint lost me as a customer when they started outsourcing to Asia. The CS and tech support were very polite, but did not have the training required to provide solutions.

HP's overseas tech support sucked the last time I had occasion to use it.

I conclude that companies who outsource are cutting corners on training as well as salaries.

Too much idiot blather to pick your stupid posts apart.

Yes, I am opposed to HUD housing.  I had a lot of Section 8 tenants and they never failed to destroy the wonderful places that they were leased.  In fact, in the process of throwing one out TODAY!!!!  YIPPPEEEEEEEEEE  I have this skank that got all sorts of money from state level HUD to get into my apartment.  Less than three months later, their door is kicked in by the "jump out" boys (narcotics task force) and her husband is arrested for selling heroine in a school zone.  Great...not only do these pieces of shit suck up our tax dollars but they introduced drugs into the community.  Yeah, Joe, I don't give a shit about the losers of the world.  My experience with losers like you and these tenants is that you are more than happy to suck whatever you can get from a dying middle class.

Yes...socialism for the rich.  Notice you took the part where I said that people did not get prosecuted, went off with millions and started new ventures.  You said the government got stuck with the tab but....you see Joe....that is why I call you stupid.  The government has no money without our taxes so it always comes back to us.  I know you will never grasp that.  But you only took the part that where I said that they start new ventures and you said "so starting a new business is socialism?"  By not dealing with the whole quote, you not only reveal your stupidity but your lack of ethics as well.

The rest of your post is the same, stupid drivel.

What did you say?  You said that my characterization of capitalism as people competing to make the best product and the best product wins and you say that is incorrect.  No...it is perfectly accurate.  In the minutia, there are thousands of ways to regulate it but in its most simplistic form, that is EXACTLY what capitalism is.  And that is the way it works out for lawyers, carpenters, landscapers, restaurants, dentists, dry cleaners, barbers EVERY FUCKING DAY.  The people that provide the best product have the largest client base.  That is capitalism.  Again....you are too stupid to understand its simplicity and inherent perfection.  You NEED a government to take care of you, Joe.  I don't.  Most of us don't, by the way.

They take money from the government and that is bad, then you take it from them and that is good. No wait, IIRC the send the money directly to YOU !. So no, you don't need the government, now you can buy some decent fucking properties and rent them to working people - just to prove your point. Up to it ?

I've had properties and would NEVER consider renting section 8. I'll let them sit vacant first. Sold em, fuckit.

The United States was once a rich nation with a strong economy and middle class. We achieved that by manufacturing our own goods. We got there by standing on our own. Did you know that before outsourcing, most American families were easily supported on one income? Why weren't companies going out of business then?

We also got that way because our country was the only one left with an industrial base, Europe, Russia, China, and Japan were all rebuilding thanks to the war. The reason we had such a strong middle class is because nobody else was capable of one.

You know, I actually wrote a rebuttal to this.....poor....excuse of a post of yours. It looked really good, until the end that I realize something. You really wont understand the whole of it from a human being's perspective. You wont stop, ponder, and debate if what I am saying is the wiser path in life. It wouldn't even be a flicker of a nanosecond in your brain. You would simply reply, like a vacuum clearner in reverse motion. To which I would rebuttal, and the same cycle would contuine endlessly. Does that really sound productive to you? One business man to another?

I get that your angry, but the truth really is, your angry at the wrong things in life. Even though to you, you believe in your heart, that your correct. The real truth is, you have never stopped and thought about what your saying. You are creating more bad karma than this world needs. You believe those folks that you evicted is for 'the best of society', when in reality, you've just unleashed more Hell on the world. At least were those two where, people knew who and what they were. Heck, some good samaritian might have even tried to get their lives back in order. But you cut that short. Now, that process will start again, and take longer to fix the problem. Does that sound like it'll be a 'good use of taxpayer funds' down the road? No, of course not!

You want people to be productive members of society, but yet, doing all you can to prevent that from being reality. You hate taxes, because you believe its the villian of the story. That the debt and deficit was made high by the Democrats. The real truth is there's what you believe, and than there's reality. Do you need to see a therapist? That's up to you. You might try it for a bit; might help some of that anger be focussed better on positive things rather than negative.

I dont think I've ever met a J.D., or at least, one that I reconized for being a J.D. But if I were to based the whole of the J.D.s on my dealings with you, I'd have to assume they are all self-absorbed, squanderers, that hate their fellow Americans whose lives really do suck, either due to their actions or not. Does that sound like the whole of J.D.s, lockedaway? Folks that have Series 7 liscenses? Course not! Perhaps you should ponder how to get these people more help instead of being a part of the problem all the time. Yes, it is more work, but you might just find a better enjoyment of life from helping others. They are your fellow Americans for better or worst. Do you want them to do better in life or worst?

You have the power every day to decide that. How do you use the power you have been granted in life?

Very good point!!!  Yes, I rented to Section 8 because if I was going to be taxed to indemnify failure, I was going to get my money back.  A WORD TO THE WISE....it doesn't work that way.  Section 8'ers are like termites.  The damage is fast and severe.  I LOST money with Section 8.  The only way I would rent to Section 8'ers again is if the whole place was built out of cinder block.  Now I take NO Section 8.  The places are much more profitable and the rehab in between tenants is much less daunting.

Man, who pissed in your wheaties this morning?

Reagan might of wiped out a whole bunch of loopholes but you realize that was about 30 years ago?  Do you think that shelters haven't popped up in their place?

I heard something interesting the other day on the news.... Germany's bounced back quickly with a strong manufacturing sector to boot.  But hey, they have all those socialist unions...lots of financial regulation...strong workers rights...health care.  You know, they must be commies.  High tax rates obviously drove them into oblivion.

Bad Karma...blow it out your ass, you fool! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL  I put into the till.  I pay a great deal in taxes.  I pay 100% of my health care cost and I am 100% responsible for my retirement.  I drain NOTHING I contribute a disproportionate share.  Failures with their hands out.....the people you identify with and probably the class to which you belong........delimit my liberty.  You advocate against my ability to send my children to private school, have a private home health care nurse for my old mother, buy a boat (or as your cocksucker president came out against, buy a plane), live in a nice neighborhood.....all of it.  In order to live under your scheme and still live decently, I HAVE to be part of the upper class because no one making $200,000 per year or less can afford the enormity of the tax structure and entitlement scheme you find so laudatory.

I create bad Karma?  No...you are the person that actively campaigns for limits to be placed on the lives hardworking Americans so that they can live in the same shit conditions as you or the people you advocate for.  Misery loves company and you are one miserable fuck that disguises his horrible intentions in nobility.  Well...charity is philanthropic when it is voluntary.  When it is ripped from your hands, it is tyranny.  You are a petty little tyrant, Joe.

NO...shelters have NOT popped up.  You are so fucking bright?  Set out the tax shelters and loopholes.  And then set forth the ones you want taken away.  Who pissed on my Wheaties?  When the mortgage interest deduction is no longer allowed you will be in one of four positions for the most part; 1 the loser that didn't buy a house and never will; 2; the loser that has to sell his house because no he can't make it; 3; the guy that can just barely afford his house...maybe better than that depending on your income, and 4; the guy that doesn't care because his house is paid off.

Ok...so tell me what business expenses you no longer want a tax deduction for.

Reagan might of wiped out a whole bunch of loopholes but you realize that was about 30 years ago?  Do you think that shelters haven't popped up in their place?

You must mean the green energy boondoggles, because thats the major area the DEMS have added "loopholes".

What you so utterly and clearly fail to grasp is that all of those people, whether Americans or nationals of a foreign country get paid because of the outsourcing. Isn't that true? Of course it is. What you also fail to grasp is that even with all of those extra people getting paid that arguably wouldn't be in the loop if the product was manufactured here, it is STILL MORE PROFITABLE TO OUTSOURCE. Got it? Do you understand? Because outsourcing is profitable....people outsource.

Oh, of course it's true that if you are willing to screw the workforce that probably positioned you to be profitable in the first place.
But what's funniest about the dopey claim you're making about profit at the expense of of middle class jobs and then offering this apples and oranges example of a seaport adding a few cargo manipulators and pilots (Guess what friend, you're pitching your bullshit story to some who's worked in the Maritime business model as well as the Computer Technologies Business model and neither of your claims can be supported by a jobs gained vs lost calculation of any kind ... well not a factual one).
Take Boston harbor for instance, the import traffic is up and jobs are in steady decline.
When all that the business plan is built around is profit at any cost, it's a lousy business model.

Bad Karma...blow it out your ass, you fool! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL I put into the till. I pay a great deal in taxes. I pay 100% of my health care cost and I am 100% responsible for my retirement.

Big fucking deal... I do the same thing and raise kids alone on top of that. You want a m3edal in this country for being a small business man?
I went to your profile to check your age just so I could be fair... you can have your big american hero medal 6 years from the day I get mine.
I know it's been a tough day, what with Fox News having been proven to be the brain child of American Traitor HR Haldeman earlier today using national treasures from the Nixon and HW Bush libraries, but you really need to start breathing deep.
