Not to speak for her but I have read other womens comments when their hubbys retire and many times the guy drives them nuts cuz he is underfoot all the time and micro-managing!

My above statement was made in the negative and oddly phrased, but if you look at what the word "or" means, it might make more sense.... someone employed or retired is where my interests lie, although I would date another student, also

Thank you for the translation. I guess it was the comma that threw me off, because I read it that she would not be interested in someone who was not employed & that she wouldn't be interested in someone who was retired. My bad. Going back to school for reading comprehension 101 now.

I work and I expect anyone that is living in my home to work also. For various reasons.

My sister has been dealing with her S.O. being unemployed, off and on, for almost a year. To say it has been stressful would be an understatement. My heart goes out to her.

I agree, it's kind of a no-brainer. I have never sought a relationship when my finances were not in order. And to a large extent during this single parenting phase, I have largely avoided entanglement out of deference to my kids.
And frankly, I think the notion that someone had to do a study more reflects that people are out of things to do studies on.

This. When my ex was unemployed, the stress level went through the roof in our house. Why start a marriage out that way? I noticed that the article specifically said marrying someone who is unemployed, not would women date someone who is unemployed.

Also, lots of unemployed people are looking for jobs anywhere in the country they can find one. It would kind of suck for a woman or a man with a good job to get married, then have hir unemployed spouse get a good job offer... 1500 miles away.
