Imp, when I lived in OK, I had a roommate who was mildly allergic to dander, so she had the attached bedroom/bath.  I had Shiloh and a cat at the time, and they'd sit right at her door, peeking thru the crack when she was always getting ready for work.  They'd sit right there until she told them it was ok to come in...she said she just couldn't resist the poor "pathetic" faces.  I told her to try growing in bangs to cover the "SUCKER" tattoo on her forehead....it never worked for me, but what the hey, maybe it would for her!  [:)]

Ive had a few Dogs over the years but mainly Border collies and Boxers because they seem to gel best with both myself and my family.

I currently have a 5 year old Boxer who is completely white in colour and she was just (Last I checked) basking in front of the heater, on her back doing the happy dance.

My Border is a Chocolate and white boy but he had a few close calls with the highway so I sadly had to re home him recently but he had a pile of neat tricks as well as being an excellent working dog.

He was 5 weeks old when We got him and had been taken way too early (I Prefer 10 weeks with Mum) but his Mum was quite sick after being baited and the Mums owner knew we were experienced with Dogs and young young puppies.

The little fella lived in my jacket for 3 weeks after he came home and regarded me as his Mum (Dont snigger) and developed a very close bond.

Our dogs are all without exception inside dogs and although they sleep in a trolley at night they spend most of the day with us either working or travelling.

We currently have one cat who lives in the barn and eats rodents, not a pet but a member of the workforce.

She knows her place and its nowhere near the house.

Good kitty

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I am always happiest when I share my home with a good dog.......or three. Cats bore me. They are just kinda there. Horses don't fit well in the house. So dogs it is. I will always have dogs. The day I cannot properly care for and have, a dog, I wish to die.

My sentiments exactly.

LOL, I wish I would have cats that are just there! Mine are quite frisky, when they're not busy tormenting the dogs and bullying them into opening doors for them, they torment me for cuddles and strokies, or to play with them. While I love summer, with cats it's a bit awful, no matter how many nice toys they get, my toes are their faves...

my dog's laying on the cool bathroom tile to chill out after a walk; glad it wasn't as blisteringly hot as it had been so he could get out. ^_^ i took him to his favorite park where there are all kinds of trees and a rose garden; it's probably my favorite park in the city, too.

All your furbabies are cute, but gorgeous shepherd!! My mom has two and I just love them to pieces!

LaTigresse -> RE: Why the hell dont we ever talk about dogs? (7/24/2011 10:28:02 AM)

I am very blessed to have a little sister that loves me so much. Nala was my birthday present last year. I could have never gotten her otherwise. The puppies all sold for $ 2,500.00 - $ 3,000.00. My sister, because she owns the papa, got pick of the litter, and so.....and I got Nala!

That's amazing!!!

My mom was very blessed and just happened to find both purebreds at the pound. One was a puppy one was a year old. Shepherds really are a special breed. Just absolutely gorgeous Nala is. I'm envious I keep saying my next dog will be a shepherd it will be along time before that happens though. I'm going to need a yard! They are definitely active dogs.

LaTigresse -> RE: Why the hell dont we ever talk about dogs? (7/24/2011 10:39:12 AM)

They certainly are not a breed for everyone. Nala is a great dog. She is gentle with Sophie, even though Sophie works very hard to constantly instigate shit. She is awesome with children..... BUT, she has also become very confident and territorial. She is also a very dominant personality that requires a lot of structure and occasional reminding of her place on the totum pole. We do have our 'moments' of challenge. But, she is only 16 months old so...

My mom has the same issues with her two. She constantly has to exert her dominance. One of her shepherds is in agility and the trainer gets after her from time to time about not letting Allie get away with that kind of behavior! However, both are very gentle and respecting of the cats. Although Allie likes to pin the cats down with her head. Both shepherds are bullies to the pitbull though. He is a very submissive dog and takes everything they have to give. Scout has gone as far as to push the pit Sparty around with his nose.

My mom has an issue with a set of neighbors that live next door. The police are constantly watching them and that's the reason she got her initial shepherd (well that and I grew up with a shepherd and she loves the breed). For awhile one of the guys was banging on her bedroom window at night and knocking on the front door. The police were looking for the guy one night and they were looking over the fence into my mom's back yard with a flashlight and Scout was going crazy in the backyard. My mom went out and the police said well I thought he had jumped your fence till I saw how your dog was acting and figured he probably wouldn't make it out alive. I gave him a treat for protecting your property I hope that was okay. The fireman that lives across the street said if anything ever happened to her I'm not coming in that house. The police would have to shoot those two dogs to get in the door. So my mom told them call my daughter that's the only person besides me that those two will let in the house if something ever happens. I feel better about her having those two dogs since her neighborhood is getting increasingly worse. All three dogs would protect her until they no longer could.

Holy crap, LaT....what are you feeding Nala??? Miracle Grow?  I remember the pics you posted of her as a puppy...whch didn't seem that long ago!  She's grown into quite the gorgeous lady!

I love the face on Sophie....it just screams "Yes, I am here to be adored!  Leave the goodies here!"  And Sandy looks like the big, soft furry cuddly type.  Wasn't there a boxer or some like breed w/Nala at one point?  In pics, I mean.

I should scan the pics of Shiloh......he actually smiled.  His eyes would light up, and his lips would pull back just enough to not be scary.  Really, it just wasn't me...everyone said he could smile.  And the first time he saw a cow up close and personal was a hoot.  He was sticking his nose in between the electric fence to touch the nose of a calf, and apparently, just as they met, his ear hit the wire.  SUUUURRRRRR-PRISE!  He jumped back and started barking at the cows like they did something!  After that, he'd only sit well away from the cows and watch them.....didn't want to get "bit" again!

Nala is a big girl but that is her specific blood lines. All big, stout, dogs. Most have been used for high dollar, personal protection dogs. But I feed all my dogs Sojos mixed with fresh produce and meat.

Yes, I do remember posting a photo of Nala with my son's dog, Bailey. She is an adorable sweetheart....pit bull or some such of that nature. Not very tall but one big hunk of muscle. She and Nala love to have play dates and wrestle like crazy.

Nala really grew in to those ears huh? Gorgeous.

I got home last night from a week in Clearwater. I had never been gone that long from Charlie and I gotta say he was so damn happy to see me, it made me think I am not worthy-lol.
