ORIGINAL: Anaxagoras Interesting rock n' roll statistic: the age of 27 has a near mythic status for premature deaths, e.g. Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Richie Edwards... and now Winehouse! Janis Joplin, James Dean... it seems a lot of bright lights burn out at 27 Indeed, and I forgot Brian Jones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club Dont forget Paul McCartney. ("I buried Paul......") Born '42 died '69 [:D] Aside from the occasional good thing its a mystery as to why ole Paul failed artistically after the Beatles. BTW I thought Paul was supposed to have been replaced by his double around 1966/67, maybe PA can shed some light on that conspiracy? [;)] Again, Wings etc is not my taste in music, but I think the first solo album at least was far better than anything Lennon did post-Beatles. "Maybe Im Amazed" in particular was probably the equal of any Lennon/McCartney love songs, though not George Harrison's. The Beatles are probably the best example in music of the whole being more than the sum of the parts, so I dont think its that big a mystery.
