Live fast, die young, leave a good looking corpse...  Though, to be honest, she wasn't all that good looking was she?

Lets say...intersting and quirky looking :)

What an amazingly nice comment to make after somebody died quite young, you must be so proud of yourself and of course you would be an adonis....

He's on the internet: probably has Schwarzennegger's chest and Fabio's hair...

I respect her right to create her art, and live as she chose, even if that meant dying young, LadyC.

It just seems to be rather nasty to judge her looks and say "oh she was not all that" when her body is barely cold, I know she courted disaster the way she lived and it was bound to happen, but I am sure she had feelings to and her family and friends might grieve for her, it seems very disrespectful and a cheap shot, if she wasn't your type, fine. After all she was a singer and not a beauty queen.

Estring -> RE: Amy Winehouse found dead (7/23/2011 2:27:57 PM)

She didn't want to go to rehab, and now she's dead, dead, dead.

TheHeretic -> RE: Amy Winehouse found dead (7/23/2011 2:27:58 PM)

Just calling it as I see it, LadyC.  I was just correcting the bit of the old saying that didn't fit for her.  These young rock stars have it all, and they make their choices.  Now if you want to hear me getting nasty, get me started on the Sublime and Blind Melon lead singers who OD'd the day they hit number one on the charts.

"Among those to comment was singer and actress Kelly Osbourne. She tweeted: "i cant even breath right now im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!"

aaaaand yet she was able to "tweet" [8|]

I never understand that part, either.

Who knows maybe it's a special talent - or she doesn't need to be able to breath to type. [sm=dunno.gif]

It's sad but not a surprise.

Aside from the occasional good thing its a mystery as to why ole Paul failed artistically after the Beatles.
no mystery at all to me. lennon/mccartney was just a polite sop to his ego.

Yeah because Wings was such a colossal failure.    [8|]

I seriously can't stand most of the Beatles stuff, in fact most of it I HATE, it might have been revolutionary in their time, but that was my mom's time and not mine, if I have to take that period, then I would say the best band out of that time would be The Who.

Too saccarine for you? Heathen...[8D]

Plastic Ono Band was fucking brilliant.

They tried to make her go to rehab, but she said no no no.

She loved the drugs more than living.... Simple as that I'm guessing.

She checked herself into rehab last month, after splitting with her boyfriend.

I never heard of her.

Not surprised, only most of the planet has

To Be honest, i'm sure i wouldnt Be familiar with her either, if i wouldnt have lived in the UK and Therefore Read at times about her in papers. So whilst it came in our News today i was rather surprised that they mentioned her during normal News over here...Seems they had Space due to gaps during Summer Time...

I guess the Grammy's dont get mainstream attention there or know what the UK/EU equivalent is, but I would be very surprised if she wasnt a multiple award winner over there as well.

The Who were a great band, one of the best of the 60's but I feel their albums were too inconsistent especially in the 60's to really compare with The Beatles. I feel they were really in their element as a live band. Even a classic like "Tommy" is pretty flawed on disc two and A Quick One is fairly poor although I quite like it. Seems to me their best is "The Who Sell Out" which is an exceptional and very underrated album. I suppose though that it all comes down to taste. For a long time I didn't like the Beatles at all. I made a serious effort to listen to their stuff after I heard one of their lesser known album tracks that I liked but was new to me. I began to realise how much their music is embedded in our culture!

Inconsistent indeed and I agree "Who Sell Out " is probably their best closely followed by (the much overplayed, at least in the US) "Who's Next". To me "Behind Blue Eyes" is their most complete song, but "Eminence Front" is their real hiddn gem.

Yeah Who's Next is probably their next best album although I prefer "Baba O'Reilly" and "Bargain" to "Behind Blue eyes". Its incredible they could make crap like "Its Hard" which was a real nadir. It seems "Eminence Front" is the best regarded track on that LP but I much prefer I've Known No War.

My condolences to her family.

I can't say that I'm shocked on this one.  Sad, but true.

Ditto

Amazing talent but she seemed to be determined to self-destruct.

My reaction, also.

I did love her voice.

What they said. Sad, but not surprised.
