Congratulations! What a great time to be buying a house! It also sounds like you are doing all the right things with the co tenancy relationship. Sometimes those things work, until they don't. And then they REALLY don't. A written agreement and clear understanding can make the transition easier. As for your original question, yes, I am facing that situation now. I love my property, and it has been perfect for me. I love it so much that when my ex offered it to me in the divorce, I asked for nothing else, even though I probably could have. Then the housing bubble burst, and it turned out to be not such a good deal. So, I have negotiated a deal with the bank, and while I will continue to live there for at least a year, my days there are numbered. I finally had to be realistic about the upkeep on rural property, which I have been solely responsible for. Lots of work, and I don't know how much longer I want to do it. Good luck to you all.
