Congrats.!  Maybe it was Karma after all  [:D]  And get a lawyer.  If you are renting to own, you'll want to make sure he's not behind on water bills or any property taxes (and make sure you know who is responsible for paying them) before you move in.

Agreed with all of this and TJ's post. Working in the legal field and watching great intentions go awry makes me say this... After all that is taken care of, I say a huge fiesta is in order! [:)]

It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

It is VERY hard to LIVE with other people.     Proceed with caution.

Get an attorney and spend a few hundred bucks making sure that everything is on the up and up. A few hundred spent now will spend thousands later.

Ya know...if you choose your roomies well...good friends or good lovers...it is awesome......I've had houseguest come and go for up to 6 month stays...loved every bit of time we had...

I would really think this over and all of you sit down and spend at least a few hours if not more really discussing this. Adding roommates at a young age, especially when you are all lovers and there's money involved rarely ends well.

And if you're planning on buying that house you really really need to hire an attorney. I can't stress that enough. I know you guys are tight on money but in the long run hiring an attorney will save you a lot more money and keep a roof over your heads.

Separate from the deal with the owner-  you 4 need some very clear house rules.. who pays what-  as many details as needed.

I also suggest-  naming a time frame...   "we will live together for 3 years-   possibly 5"     This way-  you dont all hate eachother if this ends... and if it goes on 30 years-  GREAT!!!  

Splitting costs can be a touchy topic- and $20 can kill a friendship.

So  spell it all out in advance.      I had a few room mates and this is what I did for it to flow better.

Yanno what?? These are some very smart girls we are talking about here. I'll just betcha anything that they know exactly what to do next. And I'll also betcha they've already done everything that needs to be done to take care of this business.
