Greetings

I think we create our own hell. I think that if we are Christian we might go to the lave pits, if we are Buddhists we might be reborn as an insect, if we are Wiccan we might have to spend a life making up for old karma for our souls to move on. I think our souls create the kind of afterlife, good or bad, that it needs to grow.

I wish you well

There is no hell. There is death. The closest thing to hell would be to know that you failed God. The second closest thing to it would be to be poor, fairly friendless, and, living on planet Earth, where any number of horrors can and do happen - well, even that is not very hell'esque for some, but, you know .. it's the suffering that comes from bad management, while waiting for better. Only, that is not hell, it is life outside the garden.

You mean that the castle on the five thousand acre estate, staffed by naked, chained, slave girls toiling in the sun and serving my every whim, is a possibility for me? Fuckin' A, man!

Seriously... I refuse to believe in the Christian concept of Hell (or any Hell that is everlasting torment) because I refuse to believe that God is a sadistic prick.

If there is an afterlife with justice in it, I believe that it will be more about learning from our mistakes rather than punishment.

Hell is chaos and disorder. Think ____________'s brain, mate. I better not put the name in. [:D]

I think so too. While Hell is usually supposed to be intensely hot in some cases it is believed to be intensely cold. The Catholic Church in Ireland sort of went its own way after the 5th Century and it was the norm to see Hell as freezing cold. This makes sense IMO as the common description of Hell having intense heat can then be understood when considering the regional origins of the faith itself. I don't have any image of Hell although I like the Greek myth of Sysyphus having for eternity to roll a boulder up a mountain only to have it fall down again. Its sort of how I feel when trying to reason with certain members of the tin foil hatted brigade although I'm sure they are charming in their own way. [8|]

In Buddhism, heaven and hell are emotional states that people experience here and now.

This is my belief.

Hell is the opposite of Heaven, and its definitely known that

Heaven
Heaven is a place
A place where nothing
Nothing ever happens

So I stand by hell being chaos and disorder, the polar opposite of nothing. Unless of course we're going to get into quantum definitions of nothing, which can be something and antisomething that can explode into something...though probably something chaotic and disorderly, at least for the first picosecond or so. So full circle.

Chaos and Disorder may not be Prince's best album, but I Rock Therefore I Am and Dinner With Delores raise its status above the hellish. Graffitti Bridge and The Gold Experience are vastly more worthy of a place soundtracking the Malebolgia.

If we're defining records as hell, though, I have just two words: Jive Bunny. (Google and weep for man's sins...)

Seriously I go with the Buddism idea of Hell and Heaven.
I ain't that religious but I like to believe the reborn ideas.

Anyone who wants to believe in christianity or islam, must do as they please, the only thing I detest is trying to convert me.

hardcybermaster -> RE: If there is a hell what do you think it's like? (8/4/2011 2:26:33 PM)

surprised that no one has mentioned that there is no hell so it is a stupid question

jlf1961 -> RE: If there is a hell what do you think it's like? (8/4/2011 2:54:44 PM)

Hell is the Conservative version of heaven.

poor and fairly friendless, is that the worst thing you can think of? I am sure that the millions of people dying of starvation in the horn of Africa will share that view.
That's hell and it should be hell for everyone on this planet as we could fix it if we really gave a damn

BitaTruble -> RE: If there is a hell what do you think it's like? (8/4/2011 3:32:39 PM)

Hmm.. perhaps a place or even a state of mind in which you are forced to face your own demons, without walls or protections of any sort surrounded by mirrors so you can't deny them. Hopefully, if thats my version of hell, I will be allowed to tackle those demons one by one in an attempt to conquer them and when done be reborn as someone better than I am today.

It would take a hell of a lot of work though so I can see the job lasting for eternity.

Or, maybe that's actually heaven since I do have the opportunity to do that in the here and now and it is something I try to work on.. tackling those demons and I know for sure I have sent at least a few of them pretty far away, but I don't think I've actually banished any so they will never return.

Something to ponder.
