As a conservative (by my own definition), I have long held the position that the Republican party is anything BUT conservative. I am no fan of far left policies (as I have seen them fail in California) where I grew up in the late 60's and 70's. However, I see the utter B.S. that spews from Republicans masquerading as conservatives.

I would vote Republican in a heartbeat if I ever found a conservative one. (Ron Paul is the closest IMO, but he is a bit looney IMO as well)

Here is a table of Republican mantras, what they REALLY mean and what a true conservative (as defined by me of course) position would be.

Thoughts entirely mine.

Please either cite the source or if it is yours, as you seem to imply, state so.

I'd add one thing - the "free market", as such, needs criminal penalties for criminal behavior.  The RE bubble was so wildly profitable that all kinds of fraud took place to squeeze every last penny.  The fraudsters have still not been criminally charged unless they committed more than the typical level of egregious fraud.  I'd like to see a lot of criminals tried and jailed.

I thought the "Thoughts entirely mine" phrase covered that. I guess not.

This table is 100% authored by ME. I hope that is clear :)

It's clear and I like it.  I can't think of anything to add.

The Republicans need to separate themselves from the holy rollers, big business, and those rotten "free trade" deals that only big business wants and that are killing the middle class in this country. If they want to make it overseas then sell it overseas!
Any company that engages in that kind of behavior ("outsourcing") should be locked out of our markets.
I don't need or want to hear about a candidate's "religion"or "beliefs." they don't have to worry about "losing the Evangelicals", none of them are going to vote for Oblunder anyway. And this isn't about who's more religious, it's about who is going to be the best manager of our country in the white house.
And I wish they'd stop using the words, "leader" or "leadership," you go into govt. to *serve* not to *lead*. You're the Help not the Management.
I don't know one person who is upset about not having some beaurocrat "lead" them.
And I don't need to know anything about the president's family, hobbies, where he or she went to college or even if they went to college.
And I REALLY don't need to see them on the News every day, a 15 minute "progress report" once a month or so would be plenty.

First, this is all "opinion".  Opinion has little value and much of what is in that chart is not shared by conservatives and even moderate conservatives on this board like Sanity, Heretic, me, TJ, AZBossman, etc.

Second, who gives a shit what republicans stand for.  The Tea Party is about bringing more conservatism into the republican party.  The discussion should not be about what "was" but about "what is to be."

Watch this vid....very funny! :)

I think the Tea Party is a response to the feelings behind the chart.

Tea Partiers tend to be more conservative than Republican, which vexes the Republican party to no end. They want to convince people that we should put Republican before Conservative, otherwise, we give the election to people like Barack Obama.

I call BS on stuff like that. Our choice last time, thanks to that failed philosophy, was Obama or McCain. Really? John McCain? No thanks. And turns out, we're better off that Obama got elected. Now everyone can see the clear difference between liberal and conservative ideology.

bush and the neo-cons killed any notion that republicans were conservative, foreign policy-wise,financially(deficits don`t matter),on immigration etc. ,the core values of conservatives.About the only thing left standing are the anti-abortion policies.

At this point ,neo-cons don`t have any values, accept win. They`re quite busy flip-flopping back to what real conservatism was,but it`s not that they believe in it.If they had,the "tea-party" wouldn`t exist.

Not for nothing....O.....I don't know anyone that considered W to be a conservative.  Clinton was a little left of center....W a little right; a very little.  H.W. was a very little right of center too.  This country has been choosing between lessers of evils since Reagan left office.

The problem with you, O, is that you won't support any president that doesn't tax people to create a larger welfare/entitlement class.

This is a misconception created by the media and the Democrats who are unable to understand the concept of grassroots.

There is no actual Tea Party, like there is a Republican Party or a Democrat Party.

The Tea Party is an idea. It's not a party. It's like saying who is sponsoring Conservative? Or who is sponsoring Liberal?

The Tea Party is American's who are fed up with the political system in the United States, specifically the liberal political system which believe in tax and spend policies. Tea party people do not agree on social ideas, but they find their common ground in the arena of economics. They tend to be those who support business (large and small) and those who support lower spending and lower taxation. I'd say a strong military is also part of the idea behind the Tea Party.

So, who is the Tea Party sponsoring?

Everyone who fits the ideals.

LOLOLOLOL people who aren't clamoring for confiscatory taxation to support welfare recipients?  People who believe that the should be Congressional approval for going to war?  People who believe that we shouldn't be giving foreign aid to countries that are adversarial to the U.S.....in fact....no foreign aid at all for the next few years?  People that believe in a reform of the tax code? People who believe that manufacturing has to be brought back to the U.S. and that will probably take a corporate flat tax but other people have other ideas.  People who believe in less social spending, fewer studies, no pork barrel spending.  People who believe in pension reform. People who want the southern border sealed and then a very stringent guest worker program.

Who opposes the Tea Party, Tazzy?  People on welfare, right?  People who want health care for free, right?  People who want greater entitlement spending, right?  People like you and Eerie and Imperatrix and Owner and Julia and Tweak....right?

Jesus...that's right....and Lucy too. LOLOLOLOL how could I forget???

hahahhahahah , oh good gawd, it sounds fantasy especially if you put a "once upon a time" at the beginning and "they lived happily ever after" at the end.

Tazzy,

I'd say Sarah Palin, but she isn't running..... yet.

Herman Cain is pretty close, so is Michelle Bachmann.

Not sure about the rest. Maybe Rick Perry, but he just entered the race and I haven't had a chance to get a close look at him yet.
