It was one of the most chilling moments for me.
All these years, I thought "my friend hole" was because I liked to sit and dig in the sandbox or something....or play with toy bulldozers..  The first flashbacks freaked me out big time, caused me to completely shut down  and I essentially became a 6-year for several weeks.  I didn't want to get admitted at the local public hospital mental ward because I heard stories of people going in...and not coming out....

I admitted to my mother that I needed help, and they flew me home from San Fran and she took care of me for the weeks to follow, and got me a therapist, until I could function again.  I remember feeling like I was split in two.  And it was also about that time that my gender stuff was REALLY starting to fuck with my head.

So yeah.... it was like my life was suddenly fused together again.   I immediately called my shrink and saw her right away because the whole thing (whoops. no pun intended, I swear) really freaked me out.  The two of us cried together.  (personal best, by the way. I've now made every single therapist cry.)

Yes.
I did make one cry because I was being an asshole.... she was annoying me because I thought she was useless as a shrink, I read her the riot act, went all psychoanalyst on her, and she started crying.   Then...said:  "holy shit! I *DO* feel better now.  That was totally worth 100 bucks."

yeah.  I had some issues.

Asperger's is a very harsh 'disorder' and children exhibit alot of different behaviors like you describe....my advice is don't get your religious beliefs all twisted up in it. The child probably didnt want to hear the story because it's a boring story....
Children are so innocent they don't think like we do. period.
Don't demonize the child you will only make matters worse......

OP not sure if it has already been said but the diagnosis is known as dissociative identity disorder (DID) the term MPD is not used much anymore. If you're looking for a good book to read about it I recommend The Dissociative Identity Disorder Sourcebook by Debra Haddock. DID can be treated and they are even scales that measures the disorder.

Oooookaaaay...

Did you actually bother to read the thread, or even the title?  Asperger's hasn't been mentioned at all.

Thanks for playing, please try again.

Uh, Kelley?
We were talking about Dissociative Identity Disorder formerly known as MPD....and we have some schizophrenia thrown in the mix.  No one's mentioned Asperger's or Autism....not even close to it....apples and oranges.   please re-read what the OP posted.  The child in question was a victim of severe abuse and was exhibiting DID....and based on what else the OP said, the child has exhibited some seriously violent behavior.

You aren't referring to my religious beliefs, are you? I explained earlier, my brother read a particular bible story about casting out the demons from swine, and my nephew said "I don't want him to hear that.". What the fuck does that have to do with my religious beliefs?

Folks, kelly obviously hooked on the part of the OP about the story where the nephew said "I don't want him to hear that".

Also, orchid seemed unaware that the MPD>DID issue had already been addressed.

Some people don't have the hang of this place yet. It's not nice to scare the newbies. Some people don't know they might have to red 912 posts to get up to speed, and by the time they post there will be ten more posts by the time they get done typing.

T^T

Sorry, Termy, that doesn't wash.  Both of those issues were addressed on the first page, within the first 4 posts, in fact.

Did you really just say that it's too much effort to actually read the thread and people shouldn't say anything to the poor, incompetent folks that can't be bothered to do so?
