P and R seems to have gone a little pear shaped recently(mainly the P part). Without wishing to name names..you know who you are... is there any chance of having a rational conversation here? Obviously people have their own ideas and beliefs but no one seems to have any desire at all to listen to anyone else, it's just a massive slanging match. Most of you come across as pathetic points scorers. Is everyone so partisan that the others point of view is not worth even thinking about?

Hey, politics, those who discuss politics, what are they if not politicians, for everyone is a politician and would be more so if they had the wit to go for it and become a politician with power to trade.

But what you indicated and I quoted here is the perfect politician, don't listen to others for everyone else is wrong except oneself.

But where have all the foreigners gone, you know all those Brits and other non American representatives that used to participate here, they have gone, perhaps elsewhere, perhaps here was too much and to think this an international website that yaps about American political bollocks only, kind of leaves everyone else excluded, so why bother

But one thing is certain about you over the pond, the shit that is discussed on this forum indicates to us you are more fucked than us in this global community.

Yes.

It comes and it goes.  Lots of people will start to post as the Presidential election comes closer.  Many of them will be partisans, but some will be honestly interested in responding to different thoughts.

It can indeed happen, but it doesn't that often any more, most of us down here have been here a while and have already staked out our positions. For example, Firm and I have had many interesting, sane and rational discussions in the past, but we will never see eye to eye, so there's no real point reliving them. Unless he's substantially changed his views, of course...you a Syph yet Firm?

As well, when they happen, you have to spot the two or three people actually having a discussion and follow their posts scattered here and there among the partisan wailing and tooth gnashing. There are of course a bunch, on both sides I might add, that are just not worth reading one way or another, they are simply irrational, though I will give kudos to the Right, their crazies are a lot funnier than ours over on the Left, as a rule we lefties are far too serious...we're dull, that's why most of my friends are righties...well that and righties tend to have jobs so they can buy more rounds and lap dances.

I also think it comes and goes.  And depends on who's doing the talking/posting.  And too, I think some are just natural instigators.  Politics, like religion have always been two very volatile subjects to discuss.  There is often more emotion than rationale that people are responding to.

Is it possible?  Yes.

Does it happen?  On rare occasion.

Am I holding my breath?  Not a chance.

Naaahhh, not a Syph.  Yet, anyway.

If you make it to Vegas, you won't have a bar bill, dinner tab or a lap dance bill (within reason, on that last one, and only if I can convince Treasure that the dances are actually for YOU and not me!  )

Rational discussion?  There are a few participants around for such things, just as there have always been.  Fun discussion, which can easily include getting a demented proggie to step out in front of the train?  Yep.  Still plenty of that to be had.

Perfectly understandable.

From personal experience, however, I'd recommend a fantasy involving the foxtrot or waltz.  He's rather swoon-worthy on the dance floor, not to mention he cuts quite a dashing figure in his tux.
