Like I have said before this partisan bullshit the American people seem to have descended into divides you, you are no longer just Americans, but subsets of subsets, and because of that you appear to dislike or disagree with other subsets based purely on the fact that they are a different subset. People in order to achieve anything are supposed to be able to work together to achieve a compromise that is good enough for all, not the benefit of a few over the loss of others, as the latter just won't work, and causes strife where there shouldn't be any. But whilst people are arguing, even parroting political leaders, nothing is getting done and what is happening behind the scenes is going on unnoticed, because the people are engaged in empowering politicians who in reality care more about themselves than they do anyone else and that includes those they say they speak for.

But I don't know if your system is the same as ours, where with each incoming government, where they stand on the political spectrum is largely irrelevant, because the civil servants, the mandarins don't change and it is they who control the country, not the political leaders, so partisan arguing is pointless, as no party will change the status quo. Anyone ever notice how prime ministers and presidents appear to have a hand up their ass, well, that would be because the puppeteers are the real controllers, not the face the populace elects and sees on tv.

When it is a people can see where the problem lies, that is when they can join into a cohesive force for the betterment of all and start battling the real problem, as descending into partisanship just keeps everyones eye of the ball

Together people stand, divided they fall.

Know what the best thing about a BJ from Sarah Palin is? The 10 minutes of silence. (Sorry couldn't resist :) )

I feel that personal stuff about politicians makes it harder to debate rationally in the P&R thread. Its fair enough to have strong objections to Palin but she is often called a cunt etc. That sort of stuff is sometimes funny but if people keep saying it often instead of just criticising her stance then it can easily make a thread descend into abuse and counter attack.

Then she aint doing it right.

Dear Expert Ladies,

I'm in bad need of some advice.

Are you saying that if she can't get her object of suckage off in under 10 minutes, she's doing it wrong, or that since she only takes 10 minutes, that isn't long enough?

Confused in Hotlanta.

er... no not really. Perhaps you didn't notice but calling someone a "dumb cunt" is still calling them a "cunt". I recall you also confused abuse with criticism when the issue of hiding came up a few pages back.

Rich, I already addressed that very point so at this stage it just seems as if you are projecting you own unfortunate attributes onto Palin!

Or maybe you are projecting yours, because I'm not Rich.

Well I thought your name was Rich as I thought others called you that but I suppose that might also be Heretic so my mistake. A minor mistake surely which I hope you can forgive? Still though I'm not the one calling others "stupid/dumb cunts" which is incongruous especially on a thread about the possibility of having rational debate.

Regarding the 10 minutes...

Do ya have any special exercises to keep the jaw from aching after 10 minutes or so?

No, I don't mean ball gags!

Rational discussion in Congress might be a start. Or the "post-racial" Obama condemning the vile rhetoric coming from the CBC. Of course condemning it might be difficult since its a necessary part of his campaign plan.

How do you have a rational discussion in congress when the opposing party has publicly announced that it's first priority is to make the pres., a one-term pres. ? You don't.
