Why? Either way they have the info they have. Because it is my contention, based on my knowledge of the Internet protocols that they do NOT have that info. Just as an example, my IP address at home is being used to access websites by several hundred people at any given moment. Anybody who uses the Tor program can post using my IP. Right now I am posting from one IP. /quote] I am way behind on this thread and am now catchin up, and am not going to be making a bunch of replies to this thread as I have already said. The only thing I will say about this (and its VERY little for OBVIOUS reasons because this area involves what CM may or may not have in their internet arsenal ) Just because you are not aware of any internet protocols or any other procedures, hardware, or informational systems available to tie or not tie users, accounts, sites, ip addresses together etc does not mean those items are not readily available. Small correction to your post, THE MAJORITY of your ip address is in use by others right now. I do not plan to give a lesson in internet security, because, honestly, there is no reason it would benefit you to know unless you had less than honorable intentions on what to you might plan to use that information for. There are over 10000 people on this forum this very moment, and so, at the risk of not satisfying your curiosity, I think the site would be better served not displaying even a mention of any part of its security policy. I will say though, that if you thought things through a little bit, that you would realize that a site with over a million members has a security policy in place and would very possibly be much higher tech (which costs large amounts of money by the way, that users never consider when they espouse that the site's goals are monetarily based)than you might be aware of, EVEN if you are in the it field, unless your personal niche happens to be membership website security protocol. Suffice it to say, also, that just like in a regular vanilla business, different employee levels, may or may not have access to systems that may or may not exist. The only reason I posted is you were possibly not correct in your statements as to what the capability is or is not to link users. I am going to read the rest of the thread , but this time, will be making note (hopefully correctly) of any opinions yall have been gracious enough to give us recently in this thread. I will also say ahead of time, that I sid I had no idea how long this thread would be on. I will lock this thread in the morning, which will give everyone plenty of time to have input on this thread that wants it.
