I think she attends a Fundamentalist Baptist Church right now, but I'm not really sure. All I know is that they do these "healing services" where they smack people on the head, "speak in tongues" and people fall on the floor twitching.

Now, personally, I do believe in the healing power of faith, but I don't believe that it quite happens that way. I think those churches simply do it for the spectacle.

But do they toss snakes?

In one of my religion classes in college we watched a documentary where they spoke in tongues AND tossed snakes. I felt bad for the snakes. One guy got bit. It was not the first time that it had happened. Unfortunately the documentary did not tell us how he fared.

Seriously, is this whole schtick your example of the enlightenment your religion has afforded you? 'Cause to me it looks a whole lot like puerile, petulant sniping - do you think that's a selling point?

Do you find it ok to call people delusional when you admit that as far as you're concerned "nobody knows shit" (I'm assuming you're including atheists in there) I find it rather ironic.

I think its a lot easier today to have it work then say .... Tudor England, where if you hooked up with someone of the wrong religion you could be burned as a heretic.

Heard that stuff like that was really frowned on.

I myself believe that "God is an imaginary friend for grown-ups" and that organized religion is a support group for those that can't get through life without one. I also don't begrudge them their beliefs and do not push mine off on others as I expect them to not try and get me to see their imaginary friend.

I don't think there would or should be a problem as long as the couple respects each other, and let the fact be known that each have their own beliefs and not try to push them on the other. I do not see it much different than respecting of hard limits, there are just some places you do not pass go and do not collect your $200 dollars.
