I think you're a little caught up just because the wrong terminology was used.  Had he said "remove such attackers from the population" rather than gene pool, I don't think your argument would hold water.

No, some female apparently judged their genetic health superior to any other male she could choose, so such offspring in priciple is a positive contribution to the gene pool.

The capital sentence is wrought around with ethical issues, like e.g. false convictions.

Whereas the death sentence might have a positive effect on the gene pool, there are other means to achieve the same end.

I am not saying that I am for capital punishment. I do am for stopping circumcision as that will favor the promulgation of a conscience within populations.

I do oppose incarceration: it costs a lot.

ETA: Oh, and blnymph was plain wrong.

Well, I don't know how things work where you are Blnymph, but here in the States, this happens to be one of the things which we the people have delegated.  We have it settled right out in the Bill of Rights.  No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.

We obviously have a rather fundamental disagreement here.  I believe that when the State murders someone in cold blood as punishment for an exceptionally heinous crime, it is called Justice.

Get the right one, by all means, but if we are going to call ourselves civilized, we don't allow these killers to keep breathing our air.

Ummmmmmmm....how would castration prevent the perpetrator from committing another murder?  I'm a little fuzzy on that.  What if the perpetrator was a woman...how would you castrate her?

While there may be no murder gene, there are genes that predispose sociopathy.

lololol and what about when a pregnancy is terminated in cold blood?????? :)  Wasn't the fetus that was terminated full of much more potential than the murderer that was put to death?

Apparently you dont know the meaning of "in cold blood", because that is not what capital punishment is.


She is only going to answer you that "in cold blood" means with deliberate premeditation regardless of whether it comes from the hired killer stalking a victim or from a jury deliberating over the accused.

It is a deliberative, thoughtful and difficult decision every time someone receives a death sentence and the appeals process following it. The opposite of cold blooded, an instinctive reptilian act. (I didnt notice that balonymph was quoting you, since it didnt use the quote function)

As I said, it is far from without emotion and passionless, it is difficult and emotional for every juror in the penalty phase, and those who attend.

But he also finds that even when the legal requirements are clear, it proves surprisingly difficult for most jurors to actually vote to impose death on a human being."
