I've never hidden anyone. And I doubt I will. For many reasons. I give you a Lettermanesque top 10 list: 10-From conflict comes growth. Listening to others with vastly divergent POV sometimes opens my mind to an idea, a path that I hadn't considered before or had previously erroneously dismissed. 9-Hiding someone limits me, not them. It limits my potential growth, it limits the range of who and what I am willing to hear, but most of all it means my mind is already closed so I'm wasting opportunities to learn. And that's how small people act, and I don't like acting small. 8-Hey, most the people I would hide are folks I think are idiots, but then again, the most powerful example is a negative one. I oft learn far more from them than the folks who really know whereof they speak, simply because I look at what the loser is saying/doing and then use it as a self check to make sure I don't act/sound/spout the same way. 7-Hell, this is America. It's a free country. It's a free forum. Which means any and all get to share. And I absolutely believe in the right to yack...and I'm not a hypocrite (Or at least try to be as little as possible), so if I want people to listen to me, I better plan on listening to them. When folks start simply dismissing/blocking those they disagree with, there's no hope for communication and/or change. 6-I can always skim. And I skim lotsandlots. I have folks I've been skimming for years. 5-Yanevereverknow. Sometimes the worst fool will say the most profound thing and I'd have missed it if I block them. And that would be my loss. 4-The truth may set one free, but first it will piss you off. 3-I don't hang out in politics/religion much, so I'm a whole lot less tempted to be blocking than I may otherwise be. :-) 2-Blocking removes any actual communcation, making things a one way street. And folks who only communicate one way...well, let's just say that the act says a whole lot more about them than moi. ...Drum roll puuuuuulllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze.... 1-Blocking folks is straight out rude. And childish (Unless they are being super confrontational is stalkeresque, which changes everything). It's kinda the forum equivalent of either taking ones ball and going home, or (closer) sticking ones fingers in the ears, sticking the tongue out and razzing, "Nyaaa, nyaa, nyaa nyaa, I can't hear you." And that's not exactly what I call domly.
