Yeah Kana has much to share. I don't always agree with it, but it's worthwhile!

Did he say he despises me? He hid me? But is Friday, a nice happy day of the week. He was educated to block people? He uses upside down question marks in English? Is he single?

Do you really need to ask that question?

I used to have a similar policy. Without communication there can be no understanding, I told myself. I was very proud of this policy... until the day came when a certain exchange convinced me that mere self-flattery was too high a price to pay for putting up with some assholes. Turns out there are some people not worth communicating with. I don't have a lot of people blocked, six last time I checked and at least three of those have disappeared from the boards anyway.

NOTE: just so there are no misunderstandings, I'm not accusing you of self flattery as your motivation for a "no-hide" policy... just tossing in my two cents.

See, I beg to differ. This isn't real life. It's not some knucklehead up in my face giving me shit. It's words on a computer screen on the net. No way that can hurt me unless I choose to let it.
If someone's an idiot I ignore em. It's that simple.
They can even bait me, but it's on me to rise to it...or I could exercise self control, a little discipline and personal integrity, try and take the high road, be the better man.
I own my feelings. They don't own me.
The only power folks have over me is what I give them.

Exactly, Kana, words on a screen WHICH I CAN HIDE, like turning the page in a magazine. It's not "rude" to hide someone, the few that I have hidden don't know it, it just makes for a smoother experience for me.

I have also done the hide/unhide on some folks who were having a Whiny Patch. Because I couldnt stand it!!

Yeah, but if I hide it, I lose any possible benefit, and even idiots occasionally come up with gems. If I skim, or gloss over, I can give the comments the weight they deserve, which usually is zero, but hey, ya never know.
And for the record, I ain't pushing my perspective on anyone else, just saying what works for me. :-)

I might hide from you Hibbie.
Spesh on Halloween, just so I can leap out on you.

Naked leapfrog can be fun, especially if you're not very good.

I am probably not very good. Just a guess. Is tripping allowed?

If you read my post thinking that I was implying you did such a thing it was not my intenetion. I was only saying why I do not hide people. Which is what you asked, or so I thought. I am sorry if you misunderstood.

I don't hide anyone.  I have hidden a couple of people, but it never lasts.  I always get curious about what it is they say, so I find myself unhiding them to read just one post.  And then another, and another.  So hiding is pointless.

I also really like what Kana had to say.  I am used to listening to opposing points of view, and disagreement doesn't scare me.  It is also true that even if someone is being grumpy or whiny or classless about one topic, they may well have something worthwhile to say on another.  That is how we learn.

Well SM you may think that your constant announcements that you are hiding people make you appear polite and educated
I do not think anything like that. I do not care too much about it. I just follow my rules, doing what I consider right.
And they are not constant.

To all: I really appreciate the feedback and all the people who have said their opinion about the matter. It has been truly interesting and refreshing. Thank you a lot. However, I think that the thread (like any other thread) is slowly degenerating, the answers are getting rarer and so I personally say goodbye to this thread. If you interpret this as an attempt from me to forbid anybody to write further, I recommend that you seek for professional help.

Best regards, thank you all again, and see you :)
