A total lack of organization (or cleanliness for that matter), a not taking care of or caring about your stuff and where you live is a sign of depression. Chronically depressed people don't make good dominants or submissves, b/c they don't make good partners.

A sign of depression, possibly. Is it only a sign for depression, doubtful. Probably a sign of a hundred other things.

I can take this further and think that if their life is a mess  ie  bad divorce, no relationship with their kids ( lots of that around here) they have a string of ex's ,  they are overweight,  etc  then they are not dominant. I don't think that's necessarily true.  everyone can have a patch in their life when the eggs are  all in a row, but at the core they are still how they are.  If the dishevelled life continues on and on and on I would say they might want to be dominant and are looking to find a submissive to fix them.  Oh the psychology.

Interesting! But don't most people want to be able to find the black pen when they need it, and the whatzamahoozey you only use once a year? Life is frustrating when there isn't some sort of order, isn't it?

I should add that my ex had his home exactly as he wanted it to be, but unfortunately he was a hoarder, so...I didn't consider his way very dominant. (and this may be colouring my outlook on this issue)

My bolding here. This is, I suspect, for blushes at least, the key. I live in a messy house. I know where the black pen is, and the whazamahoozey (its under the thingummyjig). There's a ladder against the wall because I haven't got around to putting the guitar and its stand in the roof yet. It'll get done - but probably not today. In the meantime I choose not to spend time putting the ladder away again - and then getting it out tomorrow. It's not in my way. I would probably fail your tidiness test - but I pass mine. To me, mine matters more, and I would expect the converse to be true. It's a person thing, not a dom/me thing.

My home is spotless and everything is in perfect order.

This is not a dom trait. This is a trait of someone who isn't a fucking slob.

A slave/sub's house should be cleaner than a dom's house. After all, they're the one doing the cleaning (and they like doing it).
