Interesting correlation that I had not really considered. As consumer confidence plummets, home alcohol consumption rises.

Ron, I have found that the high-proof Southern Comfort (that is the orange-flavored stuff, right?) is not too bad in hot tea. The really high proof stuff with liquors is not so sickeningly sweet. The same holds true for putting peppermint schnapps in hot cocoa.

I had once forgotten, in my yoot, to swallow the tenth time on some southern comfort, providing me an opportunity to hone my skillset in the all night technicolor yawn and hug.

I will pass on that fuckin scrap in any formulation.

ACTually my at home consumption has rather steadily decreased and it wasn't much to begin with. Generic Dude rarely drinks at home. An occasional glass of vino or port.

Most of the time I am drinking good old H2O. Both here at work and at home.

I figure that an awful lot of people are feeling depressed and powerless, allowing shit to drag them down. Looking for escape and self medication in a bottle.

Too bad weed is still illegal in most places. No hangovers or added depression. Alcohol is a depressant.

it doesn't necessarily mean that people are drinking at home alone. maybe they're having dinners and parties at home rather than going out -- doing things at home tends to be cheaper.

Can you binge on pot?

I do not know much about it, but I recall it being discussed on an episode of Penn & Teller, and it was stated that it was not possible to over-dose on it. This makes me think that pot binging is not something that can be done.

Can you binge on pot?

Binging and overdosing are not the same thing.
According to george calin one "should not smoke dope when you are loaded as you will not get more loaded you will just get less dope."

Binge drinking and social drinking arent necessarily the same. You can binge drink at a social gathering... but its rather frowned upon and eventually you are home alone.

Every time the GOP thinks they're doing well in the polls sales of what others call "pussy cordials" goes up. They also get extra friendly around rest rooms.
Good time for going out to local bars... less assholes there / more hot chicks.

Actually, I believe it's stress levels.

I recently quit my job and started my own firm. While at my job, I was one of the top producers. My reward for being a top producer was that I had more work heaped upon me. I'd come home and my neck and back would be like a rock. First thing I did was grab a bottle of wine. It wasn't uncommon to kill that bottle before I went to bed.

Now, that I'm out on my own and my work level has become human, my alcohol consumption has decreased dramatically.

Also this. My favorite Martini is $15 a pop, a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka is $30. It's much cheaper to have friends over for dinner and make our own cocktails.

Want something smooth.. have a Gosling's Black Seal Rum.. one of the oldest and best recipes in the world. And THAT popeye, goes down like velvet. And it doesn't have the crap flavorings and impurities of a Beam product.
I rarely drink but I never drink crap.
