In this vid (at 5 minutes in) the author explains one of the issues about Steve Jobs/Apple bringing jobs back to the US. To support 700,000 apple workers you need 30,000 engineers and the US doesn’t have 30,000 engineers needed to support the 700,000 workers. That was just one issue Jobs talked to Obama about… It would have been very interesting to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation..

I cant wait to read the book..

Good show, in any event. Indeed, international trade has existed at least as long as ships have sailed, and even before that, being as that many tribes of the day considered other tribes to be 'foreigners,' and so exchanging pottery for necklaces or knives constituted international trade.

Oh, BTW, got any sources on how the US gets oil $20/bbl cheaper from Canada? Never mind. The US would crumple to the ground with out you, tomorrow. Indeed, why all this worry about China or terrorists.

But anyway, scarcity of engineers is a problem in every 'developed' country; to be more precise, engineers outside of the oil industry. When they are offered almost twice the pay out of school to figure out how to trash the environment drilling in the Gulf of Mexico or Prudhoe Bay or demolishing large portions of Canada in pursuit of the extraction of oil from the tar sands, it would be accurate to presume that there is a shortage of engineers for other purposes.

You seem to have an issue with semantics.

Are the OWS crowd saying that it's somewhat OK that stealing widows' houses from under them with fraudulent balloon loan scams and cheating retirement funds and causing cities to file for bankruptcy via the CDO fraud are OK, as long as the perpetrators 'share'? Or that the ungodly amount of siphoning of tax dollars by the oil companies and the Koch Bros. is OK, as long as they 'share'?

No one has said that frauds and loan scams are are ok as long as the scammers share...If you are unhappy with the word share what word would you prefer?

Thank goodness at least some portion of those people (OWS) have more awareness than you do. Thank goodness also that OWS gives commies a barge pole welcome, so to speak. For good reason.

What does your obvious hatred of "commies" have to do with this discussion?
