ORIGINAL: Aylee It is not like we do not have a copy of THAT in the house as well. We have the Satanic Bible as well. And The Prince. And over 5000 more. I'm not sure that's a fair comparison: Lavey was a hilariously conceited twat, there's no question, but his contempt for most of the rest of the human race wasn't racially motivated. Machiavelli definitely doesn't belong in there with Hitler either. (Now Andrew MacDonald and a couple of the libertarian SF wing do manage to approach the same level of ideological nastiness as Hitler, on the other hand...) You found darling Anton funny as well? Nice. I was not trying to lump the books ideologically. My point was that they are books. Not good or bad in and of themselves. We will leave aside competence in writing. I do not really think that Psalms, Proverbs, and the New Testament should be lumped with Hitler. But I assumed that the point was shock value. quote:
ORIGINAL: SpanishMatMaster Thank you for answering my question. I guess you let your children read it, and anyway I would not like to ask another question, and another, and another. Thank you. Best regards. Well, my oldest is 4. She does read a bit, but if there is no pictures of animals then she is not all that interested. But yes, I count it a win no matter what book she is reading if it means that she is not unshelving the rest. Besides, Mein Kampf is much less upsetting to a youngster than reading about war atrocities through the ages. Those books of course, DO come with pictures. Some of them at least.
