Okay, so far no one has said that they think posters are more sympathetic to men, or that they take men more seriously. Anyone care to comment on that? Are there more women posters?

I haven't voted because I'm assuming that the poll refers to typical or static biases and if there are any I see them as transient, often specific to one thread or a few or occurring in posts across the board on a particular day or night.

We're all individuals and we all have our biases, as has been stated previously, which are relative to our interests and life experiences. Some people post only in specific areas of the board, others in different areas, some across the board, some post more than others, and I also feel that even the people posting varies so much from day to day.

The only real bias which I feel is static is a pro-American bias which isn't at all nationalistic or patriotic, but occurs simply because the majority of posters are in fact Americans and are relating to subjects from their own native perspective. This is noticeable because of the isolationist nature of American culture and society in general. This actually makes the boards quite a useful resource in learning quite a bit about American culture and society in ways which you don't quite find from watching 'The Simpsons' or 'Hill Street Blues'.

it depends on the man. awareness has to really fucking work hard to be listened to, while kana can say whatever the fuck outrageous thing he wants. this is because i think most of the posters on here are women, and put simply, kana makes us fucking wet.

If you're still miffled at the gentle handling you got on that thread, then whatever you do, do NOT go down to the P&R forum!

I'm not that broken up over it, in all honesty, I'm just saying I feel it's a bit of a trend. Not a very big one, but a bit of one, anyway. I've taken a lot more crap for a lot less. The short version is people are real jackasses about furries.

And I've been in P&R.
So much blood...

That sounds better.

I don't like men, so I tend to ignore them. I KNOW I feel that way, so I'm on watch for it. Kana...does not make me wet. But he's a decent guy with interesting things to say. I wish Aswad would post outside the Gorean forum more, same with Kirata.

Personally, I am biased against the stupid.

i like men and i like their perspectives. i'm interested to know what it's like to be one of them because i'm already acutely aware of what it means to be LBP-female. not necessarily anyone-else-female, but you get what i'm saying.

People have always been objects of study for me, but it takes a lot for a man to stay on my radar. But I'm older than you! I was more open when I was your age. :P

i take it that that's because you're the one of the "last honest people on collarme". Do you think there's a bias against honesty? Do you think the biggest bias around here is for, or against, individual posters, instead of genders or orientations?

I'd tell you the truth, but I'd get this topic pulled for no reason.

I don't find them all that foreign really. My favorite poster is Roch, because I find that almost everything he says resonates with me and my experience. That's why I have the "WWRD" in my signature. I have deliberately done searches for his comments on issues I have on my mind several times. So male/female just doesn't seem so great a gulf to me in many ways. This may be because I'm just weird though.

i don't think you're weird. i think there are some elements that are universal across experience. Roch is awesome and always has something sound to say, no matter what the topic is. but i do also think that there are differences in the way we think and perceive events. those differences are interesting to me. the similarities are interesting, too -- i think i'm just really drawn to contrasts, though, so that's what mostly catches my eye.
