Muslim Turkeys Invading Americans' Dinner Tables
quote:

Red-blooded Christian Americans, consider yourselves warned. The American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer has discovered a plot to secretly infiltrate America’s ovens with Muslim turkeys:
quote:

I want to talk a little bit about Butterball turkeys. And I want to let you know [that] every single Butterball turkey sold in the United States of America has been sacrificed to Allah.

Every single turkey that Butterball sells has been ritually slaughtered according to Islamic practice and has had an Islamic prayer prayed over that bird while it is being slaughtered.

If your Thanksgiving turkey starts speaking Arabic or insists on wearing a hijab, now you know the reason. But this is no joking matter to Fischer, who raises the possibility of a pressure campaign against Butterball this Christmas.

In reality, the process that Fischer is decrying is no different than the typical way turkeys are slaughtered. It just means that observant Muslims can eat the turkey, and Butterball can sell more food here and abroad. It’s common sense and smart business. It also respects diversity without changing the product in any way whatsoever.

This Thanksgiving, Beware The Sharia Turkey
quote:

Across this great country, on Thanksgiving tables nationwide, infidel Americans are unwittingly going to be serving halal turkeys to their families this Thursday. Turkeys that are halal certified - who wants that, especially on a day on which we are giving thanks to God for our freedom? I wouldn't knowingly buy a halal turkey -- would you? Halal turkey, slaughtered according to the rules of Islamic law, is just the opposite of what Thanksgiving represents: freedom and inclusiveness, neither of which are allowed for under that same Islamic law.

The same Islamic law that mandates that animals be...slaughtered according to halal requirements also teaches hatred of and warfare against unbelievers, the oppression of women, the extinguishing of free speech, and much more that is inimical to our freedom. Don't support it on this celebration of freedom. Join our Facebook group, 'Boycott Butterball'.

Don't buy a Butterball turkey for Thanksgiving.

I await eagerly Fischer's and Geller's condemnation of kosher salt and kosher hot dogs, since there is practically no difference between halal and kosher except for the religion of the person preparing it. Ironically, remember that infamous video of Sarah Palin in front of a turkey farm? That turkey meeting his maker in the background was being slaughtered by halal standards, which is the same standards as Butterball, and not terribly dissimilar to kosher butchering techniques.

For some reason, I got a visual of the picked skeleton of my turkey being eyed by Achmed the Dead Terrorist.

Well I hate to break to it the little boy, but if his turkey starts talking he has bigger problems than a muslim invasion. If I were looking for a reason, I would start by checking to see that he is still on his meds.

Idiots.

1.  Geller's assertion is that slaughterhouses kill both conventionally and by halal, and then mix the birds.  That's ridiculous - halal slaughter is more expensive that regular slaughter - to mix the birds afterward would mean that no observant Muslim would buy the bird since he or she would not be certain it was halal.  In other words, an added expense with no benefit whatsoever.  The basis of her Butterball assertion is that someone who read her website allegedly contacted a low level Butterball customer service rep who asserted that all their turkeys are halal.

Not only that, I bet that every single slaughterhouse has well-defined procedures for how to kill and process birds.  To have a second line that has different processes, just because, is NOT how manufacturing processes work.

2. Fisher's assertion is equally ridiculous and completely unsupported.

The muddled thinking is fallacious on two grounds:

1. Observant Jews and Muslims will want turkeys that are kosher and halal, respectively.  (There's so little difference between them that I assume that US Muslims frequently buy kosher birds because it's easier to find them.)  There is no way they will buy a bird that has not been certified because there's a chance it meets their dietary needs.

2. Eating a kosher or halal bird means little.  It DOES mean that the bird has been slaughtered under cleaner conditions, etc., than required under conventional slaughter but usually that means little.  (A notable exception was during the mad cow scare, when it was disclosed that conventional cattle were fed organs from slaughtered cattle, which of course raises the chance of a disease spreading, while kosher cattle were not raised cannabilistically.)  So you're not supporting a rogue Arab nation or fanatical imam eating halal.

Hey, Steven, quit talking rationally.

Fightdirecto isn't actually actually interested in any of that stuff.  He just wants to vaunt his "superiority" over all those "stupid, ignorant, rightwingtards".  (You know ... anyone who disagrees with him?)

The article was a "get his jollies off" post, based on BS, argued through BS logic, used simply to hit other people over the head with his "intelligent cutting wit".

Firm, I work with data.  Whenever I do an analysis, I am responsible for ensuring that my data source is credible, and also for giving the results a sanity check.  It burns me up no end to see people who will take totally non-credible data for gospel and then follow through to an unsupportable conclusion., and get away with it.  So I overreacted.

All I have to say is, whoever showed me a article with pictures comparing turkey gizards to female parts, ruined me forever for looking at funny turkeys.

Are you saying Pam Geller and Bryan Fischer did not post the quotes he linked to?

Perhaps you're unaware of the influence Pam Geller asserts on the right? Most prominently she is the person who started the anti mosque near ground zero thing that you and so many other conservatives joined.

If you don't like the quotes - ignore the quotes and attack the motives (that do not exist but that you have invented out of your own bias) of the person or people who publish or cite them.

"Fischer" and "Geller"?  Never frigging heard of them.  They are not "prominent" in any way that matters.

I suspect we'll see Westboro Baptist Church used as an exemplar of "Christianity" from you, and talk about how Fred Phelps is a "force to be reckoned with" among the "religious right" pretty damn soon.

When you are convinced you are already right, and everyone else is an idiot, your confirmation bias will feed you plenty of examples.

You were a supporter of Geller last year when you were acting upset about a mosque in lower Manhattan but now she isn't "prominent."
