There's a little thing called choosing your battles and selecting a battleground that favors yourself, not your opponent.

Sun Tzu was very eloquent regarding this.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: When Mods lie (12/7/2011 8:43:24 AM)

Yes, Hill. You are right. But maybe Heather is trying to go out in a blaze of glory.

Moonhead -> RE: When Mods lie (12/7/2011 8:45:23 AM)

People sometimes fight for other reasons than to win, after all.

I might loose, but if I do, we'll all know just exactly where we stand, and what sort of people are running the forum, won't we?

Hillwilliam -> RE: When Mods lie (12/7/2011 8:45:56 AM)

I disagree iass. I was also impulsive when I was young.
A lot of us were.

Got me into trouble sometimes. (ok, a lot) As I've aged and mellowed, I've learned that "Revenge truly IS a dish best served cold".

I don't. When I fight, it is to win.

The rules need to apply to everybody across the board without exception, or the rule has to be scrapped. And its not as if they can claim to be unaware of the posts, they were all reported, and the tickets were just closed. Heather is not the only one to have encountered that phenomenon.

And there are a lot of other issues that need to be addressed as well.

And Heather...wither thou goest Babe, wither thou goest.

calamitysandra -> RE: When Mods lie (12/7/2011 9:27:21 AM)

Enforce equally, or, if the manpower for this is simply not there, let the politics forum (which I guess generates the most work) sort itself out.

But the moderation seems not really to lack manpower, it seems to lack objectivity.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: When Mods lie (12/7/2011 9:33:58 AM)

Get rid of the worst offender among the mods.
And stop making up new rules on the fly and stretching the existing ones to the breaking point.

That would be rather hypocritical of the CM staff since it is simply a post showing facts.

This whole place is run on double and triple standards. Even I can see it and I tend to be rather oblivious.

That post was pulled because it was not a post showing facts as that poster significantly changed what the other person said but made it appear to be a factual quote, when in actuality it was almost a total fabrication. It was not because of the links in it but because of the intentional twisting of someone else's words, as it would be when any poster is intentionally misquoted for those reasons.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Atheists have a PR problem (12/7/2011 10:50:19 AM)

I have decided to let the last several comments that were way off topic stand just so that in this instance there are no unfair accusations or confusion as to WHY they WOULD have been pulled at other times. As to going out in a blaze of glory, I do not understand why anyone would think that the statements uttered would be bannable offenses. As to the appearance of favoritism, the moderators truly do the best they can. As the risk of appearing to try to be making excuses for staff, I would like everyone to think about how many different moderator nicks they see posting(my point being how FEW there are). There is no human way to catch everything, and when a few users decide to report a flurry of posts because possibly they are upset and hell bent on proving their point, other reports get pushed back in the line and don't get handled as expediently as that other ticket would otherwise merit.

I know, everyone would like to help moderate the boards and therefore cannot see why there is a shortage of moderators. I'm not even going to address that viewpoint because USUALLY(not always) are the ones receiving the most golden mail are the ones that want to "clean up the place".

I will also say, at the risk of being too personal and unprofessional, that for over a week, I have not really been on site, due to the death of a family member that I cherished and loved beyond words, and have been griefstricken and not as available to the other staff members as I try to be.

So... I understand that some of you are very obviously publicly unhappy. That in and of itself contributes to the unhappy karma. And, of course, you have the choice to keep pushing the envelope if you think (or even if you don't) think that is accomplishing something constructive. As for going out in a "blaze of glory", really? It appears at first that most are not happy with drama and strife and bids for attention, and that statement would be in direct contradiction of that sentiment.

But for THIS thread..........

Let's get this thread back on track ok? I will not respond on this thread again about this as it IS a major hijack. If you need to write me do so, and I WILL read what you write, objectively. Since I have been off site I may not write you back if you do not have a question, but I will read it, and if needed, answer as soon as possible.

Happy start of the Holidays folks.
