Lets just see how long it takes for the league to catch up to him.A few years ago the Dolphins had some success with the "wild cat " offence,but it wasn't substainable.The NFL loves nothing as much as success,have some with any new system,and the league will mimic your every innovation The 46 defense,the 3-4....cover 2,you name it if it is viable they will reproduce it.
Well the NFL has never and will never have a team that for reasons other than a lack of talent(Denver) employs an option offense....and the why is simple.The athletes playing defense in the NFL are too big ,too fast and too talented for the option to be successful
So why is Tebow and the Denver Broncos having their little run right now?
Simple answer,the league needs time to adjust...thats right,Denver is playing an offense so BACKWARDS that NFL defensive coordinators have not,yet,caught up.
Here is what will happen...some Defensive coordinator will sit down and say to himself enough is enough...ad he will game plan Tebow to a fare thee well,and than his defense will go out and execute(remember every other game these guys play is against a PRO offense...all of a sudden they have to remember how to do it like they used to do it at the old University...lol)in the process beating the shit out of Tebow pretty good(remember these guys are too good and too fast)...and that is it,now the blue print is out,every future team breaks down those films and the ride is over.
Elway drafts a real QB and Tebow starts announcing SEC games and recalling his "glory days"
Tutorial over.[:D]

Comparing it to the Wildcat shows that you know absolutely nothing about football.

The Denver spread option isn't a gimmick. It's sound football. It eliminates the defense's numeric advantage in the running game while also leaving the option open for the pass. It causes wreaks havoc for defensive ends and scheming in general.

It's not used often because teams are afraid of quarterback durability.

These guys aren't "too good and too fast". They're NFL players. Do you know who else is an NFL player? Tim Tebow and many of the folks he played in the SEC.

Don't talk about what can and cannot work when your basic knowledge of the game is lacking.

Your post is proof positive that I have ,over the years ,probably forgotten more about football than you have ever known.
A typical SEC defense MIGHT have one,or at the outside two,NFL quality defenders on their 100 plus squad.Of course NFL defenders are too fast and too big for the option offense to work in the NFL.These defenders are the cream of the crop,the chaff has entered the real world after enjoying thier college success.The NFL is where the MEN go to play,while the boys try to get some value from thier physical education degrees.
You know who else doesn't believe this is substainable......John Fucking Elway,thats who...have you heard of him,he is in the NFL Hall of Fame....and despite Tebows 7-1 record John Elway refuses to jump on this bandwagon.
Fuck Tebow,and fuck any idiot that doesnt understand enough about the game to realize they should keep their mouth shut when addressing those that know what they are talking about.
Thanks for playing.

Way to not provide any evidence for anything at all. John Elway is an unproven commodity as a General Manager and personnel guy. Do you have any idea how Michael Jordan has done as a team executive?

Give me football reasons why the schematics of their offense is unsustainable. I gave a few points that you didn't refute in the slightest.

Also learn to speak/type English properly.

I won't hold my breath on either of them.

PS- your envy of Tebow is almost palpable.

So I noticed. [:D]

January -> RE: TEBOW! (12/12/2011 12:28:57 PM)

FR

Regarding this: "John Elway refuses to jump on this bandwagon."

Elway is publicly neutral. That doesn't mean he's "refusing" to jump on the bandwagon. It just means he's not making announcements. He may well have made a decision about Tebow being the QB next year. Privately. I think you're making a lot of assumptions about Elway when you say he believes the wins aren't sustainable. His silence is just silence. Elway is enjoying the Tebow show as much as any fan.

And as far as Elway not being a good GM: He did at least talk Champ into staying.

Definitely a very good thing.

Although I have to mention Champ Bailey said after the 3 games he started at the end of last season re: Tebow: "I'd really like to play with him again."

That's a future HOFer who is sharing the sidelines with him.

DarkSteven -> RE: TEBOW! (12/12/2011 12:46:31 PM)

It's a schizo team.  There's not another NFL team that plays half as well as they do during the last four minutes.  Or another offense that looks more like Moe, Larry, and Curly for the first 56 minutes.

slvemike4u -> RE: TEBOW! (12/12/2011 12:55:10 PM)

Raptor,I'm sorry but I have no interest in discussing football with such a neophyte...especially one whose arrogance blinds him to his deficiancies.
Were we to continue this discussion we would need to go back to the beginning,ala Vince Lombardy we would need to start the education by holding up a football and saying....."this is a football",and only than could we go on [:)]

That's the new strategy when a team figures a quarterback is a questionable passer. Let him work up a good sweat and from what I've seen, Denver is close or behind, they take the wraps off and let him pass (he has to) and then his running becomes a bigger threat on pass plays.

Add to that, they've had some not-so-small miracles. The only debacle was Detroit.

It's beyond weird.  The team is the same exact team as it was when Orton started, but every single player seems to be playing their heart out.  I think there's something about the Miami game that proved something to the team, like nothing was out of reach.  For example, Mario Haggan just scored his first interception tonight, and turned it into his first touchdown.

The Raider Nation should be in shock right now. Here's a prognostication: http://www.twackle.com/sitebar?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsports.yahoo.com%2Fnfl%2Fnews%3Fslug%3Dycn-10587425 in which some fan explains why the Raiders will completely throttle the Dolphins, and some fans chime in to predict that Oakland will beat Green Bay next week.  Of course, the Miami game showed that the Fish are a lot better than billed, and Oakland is a lot worse than billed.  Next week, Denver faces Chicago, which just got beaten by the woeful Chiefs, while Oakland gets to play undefeated Green Bay.

Something's meshing in Denver.  Tebow has a lot to do with it, Von Miller has a lot to do with it, Fox has a lot to do with it, but there's something else as well.

Amazing isn't it. Just as one could have easily predicted, Denver in yet another nail-biter over the Bears, 13-10 in OT and GB crushes Oak. 46-16.

Denver should now win the division for the cli, cli, cli climax to this plot.

the mind boggles.

DarkSteven -> RE: TEBOW! (12/12/2011 3:29:48 PM)

MrRodgers, Denver's got NE, Buffalo, and KC up next.  I give them 10% chance to beat NE, 60% to beat Buffalo, and 90%+ against KC.  I expect them to finish 10-6 or 9-7.

Oakland has Detroit, KC, and SD up next.  I expect them to get one, maybe two wins to finish 8-8 or 9-7.

The division race is done IMO.

slvemike4u -> RE: TEBOW! (12/12/2011 3:57:22 PM)

Ten % against Brady...I think you are being generous.Yes NE's defense has issues,particularly a porous secondary,but Tebow has issues throwing so that is a bit of a wash.What this will come down to is can Tebow stay with Brady as Brady and his cohorts ring up 30+ points.This isnt going to be a 13 to 10 game,now I know Denver scored over 30 against Minnasota,but that was Minnie and Pounder....Brady will cut up Denvers defense holding the ball as he does it.
Tebow scores his 10 or 13 points,Brady gets his 30 and the world continues to spin(though god might be so upset that strange weather occurs over much of the earths surface....just sayin,be careful when you fuck with gods chosen qb)

That was my point. Some of the greatest NFL players, even those in "impact" positions, dont have a ring. Its a stupid criterion for a sport that, perhaps moreso than any other, is a TEAM sport. A great basketball player can carry a weak team all the way to a ring. A great goalie can steal a Stanley Cup. A great QB or great running back cant win consistently without a great offensive line/receiver corp.

Its also a sport where arguably coaching has far more impact on the onfield results than other sports.

Give me football reasons why the schematics of their offense is unsustainable. I gave a few points that you didn't refute in the slightest.

Football reasons the QB option doesn't work in the NFL:
Speed and savvy of the linebackers. Did you notice how every time Tebow tried to run Sunday he was always looking right at Urlacher? It is well know both at the college level and in the pros that the best way to deal with a QB who likes to run is to have your best LB keyed on him. That is what Urlacher did all day Sunday. He didn't over committ to run or pass defence but instead kept opposite Tebow until tebow committed. The problem for college defences was that Tebow is a pro calibur athlete and it was rare for him to face an opposing LB who was as fast as he is and who had the discipline to stay with the game plan. This is also why the play action pass is much more successful in college than in the pros.

Width of the hashmarks. The option run is almost always outside the tackle. With the wider hashmarks in college ball that makes more room to run that play.

Quality and intensity of coaching. Most if not all pro DC's could be coaching at the college level and many position coaches could work as coordinators in college. There are no artificial NCAA rules limiting the amount of contact coaches have with players in the NFL. Practices at the pro level are longer and more frequent.

If Josh McDaniels had not grabbed Tebow with the 25th pick, Bill Belichick was ready to pounce. Belichick had flown Tebow into Boston and had spent a 4hr dinner with the man prior to the draft., an unheard of event in Patriots draft history.

Tell me... why do you want Tebow to fail?
