This is part of why Iraq was doing comparatively well under Saddam... he never much got into the Christmas spirit... you know, after-mass suicide bombings and the like... fun for everyone, except Saddam doesn't get it, so he tells everyone to cut it out or have vital parts of themselves cut out and fed to a donkey. Net result, one Christmas tradition less for the duration of his reign, and Santa goes missing some elves in horribly dark dungeons somewhere. Amnesty weeps. Stability prevails. Nigeria... that's the confederacy all over again... well, minus literacy, technology, resources, black slaves and adequate arable land for cotton. Seriously, though, the country is literally split in the middle and fighting over what kind of government to apply to all of it. That, and they want to get rid of education and other corrupting influences, of course; very stateside. Health, al-Aswad.
